KP's end of year comments

Seems pretty normal to me??

Like what? Our guys need to get tougher, Nate is awesome, we love euros, or Bayless is a point guard???.....hahaha

I thought there were some interesting tidbits. Sounds like Nate's leash is still quite long. Greg is recovering according to schedule. Rudy isn't happy but didn't demand a trade. Batum playing in the World Championships and the Blazers can't stop him. KP and Allen haven't talked about KP's future.

This is a Blazers message board....it seems silly for you to discourage posts that many fans may enjoy - especially when news can be hard to come by in the off-season.

Typical KP fluff. Nate likes Euros? I think I'm calling bullshit on that one.

Thanks for the link. KP physically looks much better than the last time we saw a swarm of media surrounding him.

Good find man.I appreciate your effort! This Todd guy is just bitter about his lame job, family life and lack of sex! Keep up the good work!

Yeah, the fact that KP is even holding his usual end of the year press conference could be considered news in its own right.

I thought there was some REALLY interesting stuff in this interview. Such as...

Reaction to the "Don't Ditch Pritch" fan movement

Humbled. Again this is an amazing place and I'm honored to be a part of this organization. I know I wouldn't have this opportunity if it was't for Mr. Allen and specifically Nate and Tod and Larry. This is amazing organization. Don't lose sight of that....

I read that as: Yeah the don't ditch the Pritch thing is great, but when I get shit-canned, don't be too pissed. It's still a good organization, even if I'm not there.

Also, i get the general feeling that KP may be looking to loft a hail mary to get a BIG improvement this off-season. His comments were nothing like last year, when he was talking about icing the cake and whatnot.

"Can we get involved I think is the question. We might be able to. "

Do you foresee small changes or big changes?

"Again, I want to be open to all the possibilities. I think it's still a little too early. I want to talk to the coaches. I want to talk to our players again. Be open to everything."

He didn't say anything close to the last summer. I think we try to make a big splash in either the draft or free agency or both.

Yeah, I read it the same way. And, as an advocate of a Big Move in light of getting one more season of information on our current core players, I'd be really happy to see one, so long as it's not a move borne of something like desperation.

More Ainge than Whitsitt?

More Buford than Baylor?

More Pritchard than Thomas?

I think I see what you're saying...

He gave very politically correct answers. Good job KP!

It sounds to me like it is "Bake it", but keep an eye open for a good deal.

Me "two"

I like my job tator tot, and some of the other things you said, but the sex could be better. Maybe one day you will get your lips off KP's Johnson long enough to come back to reality.

Whether he's fired or not has nothing to do with KP being the man. KP is just the man.

No we haven't done that. Last year it was over at my house over a bottle of wine and I'm sure it will be like that this year.

More odds-and-ends-for-Pippen Whitsitt than Jermaine-O'Neal-for-Dale-Davis Whitsitt

More targeting-Milsap-and-Miller Pritchard than targeting-Turkoglu Pritchard

More acquiring-Garnett-and-Allen Ainge than trading-Brandon-Roy Ainge.

;)

Sounds good to me! Neither one is exactly my cup of tea, or glass of wine - hey, KP, got a sister?

What's interesting to me is that Brandon, KP, and Nate are all in agreement that the team needs a 3 point specialist. Not exactly a ringing endorsement for Martell or Rudy.

We need to go after Channing Frye then!

Yep I noticed that too. All of them mentioned we need outside shooting. Basically translated to: Rudy isn't getting it done. Martell isn't getting it done. Bayless isn't getting it done.

The other thing I would point out, is all of them mentioned toughness. Nate talked a lot about how Lamarcus game needs to improve, and pretty much called him out but in a "politically correct" way.

The other thing that grabbed my attention, was how KP seemed to mention that they weren't afraid of making a move. Several times.

It was also interesting that KP mentioned he had made mistakes. All I ask of any GM that makes mistakes is that they learn from them, and not repeat them. Unless they draft Martell over Chris Paul or Derron Williams. That is unforgiveable.

We have a three point specialist. Batum hits them at a 40% clip, and takes 3 a game.

The problem was that he was used as a 25 mpg player, and then he had the shoulder go out when I was really hoping he'd start moving up to 35 mpg.

That said, we definitely need to add three point shooting to the bench. Bayless may add it, but I've lost faith in Webster and Rudy.

My money is on us bringing back Blake a third time.

I wonder what the record is for a player returning to the same team over a career? If he comes back, that'll be three times over 7 years. Pretty impressive.

Not really impressive. But I can sure as hell tell you it would be depressive.

How about Mike Miller?

I fucking hated that guy for the longest time, but maybe he'd be just fine filling the role Rudy plays currently.

Edit: actually I should say the role we wished Rudy had played; we don't need another 'bed-shitter'

This is what they will probably do.

Almost assuring Portland of another first round exit.

So, with Blake = first round exit last year. Without Blake = first round exit this year. With Blake = first round exit next year.

What does no blake next year assure us? First round win?

The problem is that Blake doesn't assure us anything. The problem isn't the backups. It's the PG position. Webster and Rudy are more than enough 3pt shooting for the 7th and 8th man on the team. The problem that they're referencing is the PG position. For 35 mpg you can't count on Andre to hit anything outside of the FT line. That's what Nate, Roy and KP are referencing. And Blake's days of getting 35 mpg are about done, I'd imagine.
