Krstic: “I am healthy now. I am 100 percent. I’m totally healthy”
March 25, 2008, 4:25 pm In his Nets blog, Nenad Krstic tries to explain why it’s taken him so long to get it together even though as he says, “with my knee: everything’s fine”. The reason: “I wasn’t used to people running at me and my shot. I wasn’t used to people being around me because I did the whole rehab by myself. “ Now it’s time to step up. “Everybody needs to step up but I feel like I haven’t done too much the whole season. I just need to step up right now”. He also talks about how the flu affected his game.

Krstic is definitely stepping up right now. You have to give props to the way he's been playing, without the flu.

Probably unlikely, but I'm hoping we can sign him to a long term contract for relatively cheap.

he hasnt done anything to merit his huge contract... he should get like mikk moore money!

What huge contract does Krstic have?

As he seems to be getting better each game, it seems that he will most likely end up taking the QO from the Nets. This is both good and bad. On the good side, that keeps the Nets further away from the tax threshold and provides a real incentive for Krstic to play damn hard next season.

On the bad side, some players don't handle the mental side of a contract season well and screw up chemistry. Doubt that happens with Krstic, but it is a possibility, see the Bulls. Additionally, if Krstic plays really well, the Nets will no longer have the right to match any contract offers for him.

The reason I say the QO seems most likely is that there just isn't enough time for him to prove himself this season. I just don't see another team making a run at him in free agency that would offer something the Nets wouldn't match. I also don't see the Nets offering anything that Krstic's agent would believe is a fair, long term deal.

Do you understand the free agent market difference between a 25 year old center that can average at least 16 & 6.5 and a 31/32 year old journeyman center that put up 12 & 5 after the all star break?

The Spurs are going to be in the Krstic market if we lose his bird rights.

They won't have the cap space.

If he continues to improve for the rest of the season I could see a $20mm over 3 years deal starting at $6mm, with an opt-out after 2 or partial buy-out. Gives him short term security and the chance to get an extension after 2 years. Kind of like Gooden's deal. Little bit of a gamble.

Yeah, Spurs will be all over that.

I want Krstic to post up more because he shot everytime he had a scoring chance. He has the speed to fake it and drive but I think he is still pretty nervous on that knee.

sure, until his next 3-14 game and then it's "my knee hurts"

LOL, how do you feel about a Tyrus Thomas sign and trade?

Tyrus for Stro sounds like a good deal

Only if we can run the following line up:

Marcus
Tyrus
Stro
Sean

and somehow sign Hakim Warrick.

How about Jason Collins for Jarron Collins?

i dont kno... he hasnt really shown any kind of consistency

the 25-year old center is somehow more injury-prone?

Injury prone or not, Krstic has still put up far better stats than Moore did. Additionally, Krstic isn't a finished product yet and will most likely continue to improve.

krstic returned from the mountain then went back up

2/5 in 18 minutes means he re-injured his self-confidence? That's a knee jer- oh wait forgot I was talking to Jizzy.

he was horrible tonight, a walking soft served ice cream cone and we didnt even play a good defensive team, speaks volumes of how bad the knicks are.

How do you know that?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (Jizzy @ Mar 26 2008, 09:38 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>there was a game today?</div>

look at his stats and dont tell me that he had a bigger impact on the game then his stats indicate becaus ewe both know thats not true

Who's saying that? I'm just saying that he doesn't score 20 points again and you're ready to re-injure his ACL so-to-speak

im not implying he's injured at all, his confidence goes in waves from game to game

Krstic doesn't have confidence issues, he's had one confidence issue and its been pretty well documented. Did you actually thing he was going to average 20+, and anything below that means he doesn't trust his knee anymore?

It's also funny that you're willing acknowledge that he can perform in ways outside of a stat box (smart) yet then say he's soft and had a poor defensive showing without even seeing the game

well im still not sold on him yet... and im not even talkin bout his scoring inconsistency... but because he doesnt commit to rebounding... hes 7 feet tall :/ raise your hands and box out
and he would at least get 8-10 rebs a game
but hes always around the perimeter :/ and thats upsetting

That was a horrible game for Nenad. Right now, it seems like if he doesn't get the ball in a wide open pick and roll situation he is useless on the offensive end. Last night he was getting double teamed when he touched the ball and kept giving it up, but never got back into the play.

He has more to his game and I hope now that he's getting comfortable playing with other players and hitting that jumpshot again he will now start remembering those other parts of his game.

As much potential as he has he is not worth signing for a lot of money. About $6 million per season tops. Guys that can change a game and are a significant part of the game plan night in and night out should be the ones making more than that. Right now he's a good role player when he brings his A game. I also wish they would stop trying to make him a forward. The guy is a center. He cannot guard PF's.
