OK, I guess the argument is that Clippers have nothing to trade. But is that true? They have George and Leonard. Maybe mostly due to injuries but it has just not worked out with these two. I think they are at the point that they may think a really good point guard is more important than two really good small forwards.
Possible options:
1. Trade directly with Clippers. We always said we wanted to change out one of our short no defense guards for a SF. We were talking about Simons of course, but what about Lillard. I have got the impression that Blazers may be tired of tanking and want to at least get back into the playoffs. With George or Leonard, if they stayed healthy, we could probably do that.
Leonard has been the healthier, averaging about 56 games over last 4 seasons; George about 45, but i would feel safer with George, would worry about Leonard's motivation if sent here.
2. Send Leonard or George to a third team. OKC and New York would be reluctant to trade for Lillard because they both have really good ball dominant guards already but they might be happy to have a Leonard or George. OKC would certainly have good assets to send to us.
3. Some kind of three or four way where Lillard goes to Philly, Harden to Clippers and somehow both those teams find some draft picks to send to Portland.
I guess my point is that there are things out there (don't forget Toronto) that could be done and hopefully some teams will get creative.
