Personally I don't see why "AssClown" and "Leonar_" would get under anyone's skin. And because of that, I wouldn't consider it trolling.

That's why I put "IMO" in it. I don't care that MM posts like that. If he wants to use silly names, then I don't need to take him seriously as an actual basketball poster.

A troll is someone who is a person who sows discord on the Internet by starting arguments or upsetting people, by posting inflammatory, extraneous, or off-topic messages in an online community, either accidentally or with the deliberate intent of provoking readers into an emotional response or of otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion

This literally happens in every thread with more than a couple of posts.

By that definition calling someone a troll or suggesting they are trolling has led this thread off topic and therefore where intentional or not that post is trolling and should be addressed since trolling is against the rules.

This.

Repeatedly reiterating one's dissatisfaction with a particular member of the franchise may be tedious, and may even be childish, but I don't see how it is troll-like.

As an aside, there should be a consensus on the adjectival form of troll. Trollish? Trollific? Trollene? Mixumy?

No one should. I have parts of my damn brain missing.

If you focus solely on the off topic comments then some of the mods SLY looking at you are among the biggest offenders.

WTH--Did Cmeese just get suspended for this?!

I realize that, and I feel for you and your family. That still doesn't mean you need to spend what I perceive to be so much negative energy on this little inconsequential board.

Nope.

He got suspended for this:

To be fair I never said PapaG has aids, I suggested his boredom was to blame for his monotony which is why half of his posts are complaints, his anxiety, which is why he gets so defensive when someone suggests a certain power forward jacking up 40%, 20ft jumpers is not the best shot the team can get, and an inappropriate work environment, which causes he to use condescending terms like big boy and stupidity in his posts. Lastly, I showed that depression is a common symptom in bored people and those with aids and that thanks to Obama Care he could and should get tested.

Apparently Nate missed this video

So while I was suspended technically for saying PapaG has Aids, I call bull crap on that, but I will accept that I was suspended for giving unsolicited medical advice and for saying PapaG should learn how to pound the sand in his vagina into a beautiful but disgusting window.

PapaG has self identified on this board that he is a man and therefore by claiming that he has a vagina let alone one full of sand is out of line. PapaG I want to personally apologize to you and your penis, additionally I understand it is foolish of me to offer unsolicited medical advice, which I found on the internet.

To me it does

I thought Denny created a "suspended" category, so that would show up under the name... now it says "banned user" when it would just say "banned"

Not that I really care, but why is that suspension worthy?

"Even though I've served my prison sentence, I only admit to having committed two of the three crimes of which I was convicted, and I believe my actions to have been justified."

"Clearly you didn't learn your lesson--back to the stocks with you, peasant!!"

IMO there are a couple of different kinds of (for lack of a better team) trolling.

There is the BlazerWookee type of trolling where he, as he likes to say, "lights fuse and runs away giggling." It's playful, teasing and is more about trying to just have fun.

There are troll posts that poke fun at other troll posts. Like when I posted the other night, "Great game tonight, Lillard is really improving his trade value. I think he's worth two Conleys."

Then there are troll posts that a person does just to piss people off. But what makes it worse is they get all indignant when people get pissed off. Not to single out Cmeese but when I read a post where he wants to trade Lillard for Conley my first thought is what a fucking idiot. Now I'm smart enough and polite enough not to post it but I am thinking it. My next thought is, oh fuck, this is going to start a shit storm. I'm going to have to watch this thread now because people are going to post pretty much what my initial reaction was. That's how I know it's not only a troll post but a bad troll post.

But then when he complains that people are insulting him instead of discussing the legitimacy of his post that's when I know it's the bad kind of troll post.

It's kind of like that old supreme court interpretation of what pornography is, "I shall not today attempt further to define the kinds of material I understand to be embraced within that shorthand description ["hard-core pornography"]; and perhaps I could never succeed in intelligibly doing so. But I know it when I see it."

This is what gets me. I still think he was serious about that post. He came off as serious when it was brought up in another one of his threads. So the guy had a serious opinion, gets flamed, and it's considered a troll post? I mean, clearly it was a dumb idea, but he brought up an idea he believed in, gets bashed, and he's considered the troll?

Yeah, I agree. Shitty ideas don't automatically equal trolling. Maybe I'm naive on it, but he's of the opinion we need to improve our defense, and feels that'd be the step to get us there. I think the trade is god awful, and said as much. But, how is that trolling, but then suggesting trading Aldridge for picks because we're stuck in mediocrity isn't?

No action was taken. We didn't close or delete the thread. And actually we deleted insults that were directed at him. People have unpopular opinions or ideas all the time and forums are great places to express them. But when that person over and over and over keeps making threads that seem that they are designed to inflame people that's where the problem is. Luckily people who exhibit this type of behavior also tend to be the ones who can't stop with the fucking personal insults so we have more concrete reasons for stopping their disruption of the forum.

I didn't delete that thread, but I deleted his thread about "_amian Lillar_"

It's cool. Just asking for clarity. I didn't realize he'd been making multiple unpopular threads that may appear to be intended to enrage people. I haven't paid much attention to the basketball side of the forum of late (for obvious reasons), so I didn't realize this was a consistent behavior.

But even then, you called it trolling. Mixum was constantly trolling. I don't think I ever felt like cmeese was genuinely attempting to troll. He just had unpopular ideas, and it's not his fault other posters made unnecessary responses.

I'm just telling you what I thought, think, feel. But even having my personal opinions on what he was posting I still tried to treat him fairly.

Really? I think cmeese is definitely trolling with purposefully unpopular ideas. He seems to be intelligent enough to know that his unpopular trade ideas are stupid, because the players we would be trading have far more value than the counterpart we'd be receiving back. I think BGD has genuinely bad, unpopular ideas - he's not trolling, he just has terrible ideas.
