LA puts some teammates on blast

Is LA going to be the next target Quick decides to just constantly blow everything out of proportion and put the blame on for everything? This article makes me think maybe.

Jesus Christ Quick is full of himself. And I feel sorry for Lamarcus that he's not in a position where he can just say "go fuck yourself you annoying little prick."

Incidentally, everything Aldridge says there sounds perfectly reasonable. Aldridge reminds me a bit of Andre: doesn't like to talk, but when he does, there's no bullshit.

Fuck Quick. Condescending bastard.

I love LaMarcus' honesty.

It was pretty clear that this team did lack that voice in the locker room that commanded respect.

Chris Paul would have fixed that. That's why I wanted the team to make a strong push for him. So now who's available on the market that can be that guy?

If their play didn't already cost them money this summer, some of these quotes by their teammate surely will.

Felton and Crawful are so fucked.

I like this

"I wanted to slap everyone on the (expletive) team," Aldridge said. "I'm like, 'What the (expletive) you all doin'? I actually said 'If y'all don't want to play tonight, tell Nate and he will take you out of the game.' I said it like six times during that game. I was mad."

LA has shown he can have a leadership role but he defiantly needs someone else there to back him up at the very least.

Hmm... is this the role of a journalist?

It's why I cornered LaMarcus Aldridge shortly after McMillan was fired. I told him that I was disappointed in him. I said that part of the responsibility of being a star is leading. I expected him to tell Felton to zip it when the point guard was making his poisonous locker room rounds. I expected him to tell Crawford to quit worrying about where he was playing and focus on how he was playing. As not only a star but an All-Star, it was his job to get guys focused on the team.

It's one thing for Quick to ask LaMarcus Aldridge what he'd said to teammates when the wheels started coming off. But to say he "expected" Aldridge to say certain things to certain players? Seems to me that he's stepping out of his role as the beat reporter and into something else...

Exactly. And one of the primary reasons I can't stand that condescending prick. Like rasta said, he really is full of himself. If he 'cornered' me and talked to me like that, at the very least I'd tell him to go fuck himself, and invite him to print it. I guess LaMarcus really is too nice. I wish Quick covered the Celtics. I'd love to see him try his shit with Garnett or Rondo, or even Pierce for that matter.

Camby
Wallace
Felton
Crawford

What do they all have in common?

They're all older than Aldridge.

Camby could have been the voice if he wanted to be....but that obviously wasn't going to happen.

Aldridge is the best player...but he'll never have the loudest voice.

I don't blame the shitty season on Aldridge at all. If LA had 3-5 of the top 7 players mutinying there was nothing he could have done. Good riddance to Crawford, Felton, Wallace and Camby. Those players are fucking garbage. I hated how Camby would needlessly jump out of bounds to save a ball just so he could pad his rebound stats.

There's only so much one player can do to command a locker room he needed some other strong personalities around him with so many short-timers and guys who were either too young or too used to playing on shit teams where losing and winning are no big deal.

Hopefully they get an infusion of hard workers and competitors next year and a coach they can respect ... tall order in the modern NBA.

I actually thought this was a very good piece of journalism. the job of a sports journalist is to inform the fans. If quick doesn't call out LMA here, I don't think we would have found out what LMA really thought about what was going on and we wouldn't have got the confirmation of what was happening with the team. I also didn't think the article was at all critical of LMA; I got the impression that through this article we were able to see that LMA tried to focus the team, and Quick acknowledges that part of the reason he didn't succeed is they were the kind of guys who don't listen. We all know that LMA will never be a leader like Jordan or Kobe, but it's encouraging that he is doing his best to try to be that leader.

Great article, and it's premise and content confirms pretty much what I felt about this team once the slide started.

A new coach, and most importantly, a new GM who can do his job without idiots interfering with him is the first step that the new owners need to take after Paul Allen finally sells the team.

I thought the mandate for the franchise was bringing in "high" character guys?

Nothing much to disagree with.

Only everything Quick says, that's all. The religious authoritarian assumed that McMillan was right and the players were wrong. Therefore, the problem was that Aldridge should have "led" the players from their error into obedience to Lord McMillan. One problem--Quick admits that Aldridge himself couldn't stand McMillan's system, just like all the other players.

To fill the "leadership" gap, Quick himself took command and ordered Aldridge to fight the players, who collectively had a century more basketball experience than Quick. I've often posted that the Oregonian wants to run the team without paying for it.

Lack of a leader has never been the problem.

Larry Miller waiving and trading leaders and replacing them with fat, lazy, unwanted players is the problem.
