Lakeland Magic News Release

The Lakeland Magic, NBA G League affiliate of the Orlando Magic, defeated the Memphis Hustle 98-87 in the Valentine's Day matinee at the HP Field House.

Andrew Rowsey came into the game second in the NBA G League in scoring. He continued his hot shooting in the opening period, giving the Magic a 21-18 lead going into the second. Lakeland held Memphis to 32% shooting in the first half and increased their lead to 18 points at halftime.

David Stockton worked on both ends of the floor for Memphis, drawing two offensive fouls on the Magic guards and reaching double-digit scoring in the second half. Memphis rallied and outscored Lakeland 32-24 in the final quarter but with the game already in hand, the Magic's defense stifled the Hustle's comeback attempt. Lakeland held on to win 98-87.

Mamadi Diakite, a flex-assignment from the Wisconsin Herd, led all players in scoring and rebounding with 20 points, 10 rebounds, two assists and two blocks. Rowsey finished with 12 points, eight assists, two rebounds and two steals. Billy Garrett returned from injury and recorded 12 points, four rebounds and one assist. Devin Cannady, also back from injury in his season debut, dropped 12 points, four rebounds and one assist as well.

Ahmad Caver posted 16 points, six rebounds, two assists, three steals and two blocks. Bennie Boatwright finished with 14 points, six rebounds and one assist. Stockton added 11 points, three rebounds and two assists.

The Lakeland Magic take on the Rio Grande Valley Vipers on Tuesday, February 16. Tipoff is scheduled for 11:00 AM at the AdventHealth Arena. The game will be available on ESPN+.
