I'm not sure if he is the kind of guy to put up the stats required to be MVP. Especially once Aldridge and Oden become bigger threats on offense.

However, I do think he will win a few Finals MVPs in his career.

Rookie year: 16ppg. Second year: 19 ppg. Third year: 22 ppg. He is on the rise. All we have to do is get the #1 seed in the West next year or the year after and he'll be named MVP. He'll get votes this year though. No question.

What?! He's having a great year, but there is no chance in hell he gets a single vote when you have the likes of Kobe, Wade, and Lebron playing out of their fucking minds on the year.

The NBA MVP voting panel gets to select 5 players, and ranks them 1st through 5th I think. I wouldn't be surprised if Brandon got a top-five vote. Antawn Jamison and Sheed got a fifth-place vote last year.
And the voting is done by media members, three of which come from each NBA city so I'm sure Quick, Freeman and whoever else would give one to Roy.

And Paul and Howard to suck up any left over votes.

Roy is not a top-five player. The Blazers are not one of the elite teams. Roy is not likely to get any MVP votes this year.

If Portland sneaks in and grabs the 2 seed in the west, and Roy plays out of his mind for the final month (30 ppg, 5 assists, etc.) then he will garner serious MVP Consideration.

Phil Jackson, LOL.

Los Angeles Lakers coach Phil Jackson has been bombarded recently with questions from the Los Angeles media regarding his team's failures in Portland. The Blazers have defeated the Lakers six consecutive times, and 12 of the past 14, in the Rose Garden.

The questions continued tonight before the game, with Jackson blaming everything but his team's play.

"It's one of those things," Jackson said. "'There's some scheduling things involved in it and there's not doubt the rain is involved in a lot of what we do up here. There's no doubt about that. You have to come here and experience a cloudy, rainy, depressing day to understand it."

Roy will get at least one top 5 vote. Fuck, if the Blazers finish strong, I'd put him ahead of Paul in a heartbeat. Paul has an All Star to play with. Roy doesn't. But Roy's team has won more games. Without question, if the Blazers finish with a top 5 record, Roy will get a slew of MVP votes.

I'm really enjoying the LakersGround thread. They blame Luke Walton for everything. And it reminds me that EVERY team has fans who hate their team and think they will go nowhere in the playoffs. It's not just us.

First reg season game I made it to this year and I sure picked a good one to make it to! Had a fantastic time!!

Lakers crash and burn in Portland

Make it seven.

No matter the time, date, weather and roster, the Lakers come up to the Rose Garden, run around for a few hours, and leave with a loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

It's become as predictable as the precipitation in Portland, the Lakers now losers in their last seven trips here, the latest a 111-94 embarrassment Monday -- the Lakers' most one-sided loss this season.

FWIW.

Unsubstantiated rumor from OLive:

THIS JUST IN! My friend told me Some of the Blazers and Fakers got into it at the Portland City Grill after the game. Apparently one of our guys "accidentally" dropped their drink in one of the Fakers laps. Not sure if it came to blows, but I think you can officially say that this is now the biggest rivalry on the West Coast.

From the same article:

Next month, they might consider conserving jet fuel by simply staying home for their April 10 game at Portland.

Interesting. It sounds made-up to me. But if it was true, then the title of that article is perfect. Maybe that incident is why Quick decided to entitle the article "Blazers pour it on Lakers." :dunno:

Love this:

The Blazers (40-23) are tied with Utah for the Northwest Division lead, the first time the Blazers have been atop the division after the All-Star break since March 2001.

I wonder if we are going to finish with a better record than last season? :dunno:

This is my favorite line from that Laker forum

Lakers better hope they dont see Portland in the playoffs ..... if Portland wins one at Staples, the way we play in Oregon, we are done.

Yeah, they need to avoid the Blazers...the Rose Garden is the devil.:devilwink: HAHAHAHAHAHA

What a game. I have an 100 dollar bet, that if Portland faces Denver in the playoffs and wins. I think they could and when Oden returns, it only makes them better. Very nice game.
