Rumor LAMARCUS ALDRIDGE IS LEAVING THE BLAZERS, BUT WHERE SHOULD HE SIGN? (1 Viewer)

I so hope we don't end up giving this guy the max. If we could swing a deal with the Mavs to get Chandler and a draft pick, that would be cool.

I'm so glad you aren't GM. What does it say about you that you hope we don't give him the max but San Antonio is CLAMORING to give it to him?

Crickets...

I don't discount the chances that LA could leave, but this article is pretty weak, IMO.

Why go to the Celtics to join their youth movement when you have a similar situation with which you are already acquainted and successful in Portland? The only benefit is playing in the Eastern Conference.

And saying the success has never been there in Portland? That sounds like someone who follows the NBA entirely from watching Sportscenter.

It sounded like us talking about Nic and Wes, but he was talking about JJ Redick and Barnes. The sad part is that Nic has that skill set to do it.
Except he doesn't. He lacks the ball-handling abilities to attack the hoop consistently. That's actually the TEAMS biggest weakness. I think CJ and Kaman are the only players who are above-average at their position, when it comes to attacking the basket off the dribble. We just don't have any crafty dribblers that can handle the ball well while being defended.

I am not a fan of Nic being our point forward. That is one reason why I am intrigued with Delon Wright. However I do think he is an above average ball handler for his position, and good enough to attack the basket when guarded 1 on 1. He just doesn't do it in the NBA. He does however do it playing for France.

I suppose, taking all aspects of ball-handling into account, he could be considered above average for his position. I guess I was taking a narrower view at his ability to dribble-drive - he neither has a quick enough first step to get by his defender on the initial move, nor the ability to change directions to get by on a secondary move. I think he's fine when he's searching, probing, running pick/roll, but he doesn't have the physical ability to drive the ball to the hoop against a defender and help collapsing around him.

Gasol for Aldridge is really the deal. I'm not sure why we would do that. Yes, Gasol is a damn good PF, but he's older than Aldridge. If Aldridge does leave, then you build youth around Lillard
Pau would be a stop gap for Meyers. Avery Bradley fills a need big time as he can start at the 2 when needed and be our stud defensive backup PG and picks that can be packaged to move up to get a Rondae Hollis-Jefferson or whomever the Blazers have an eye on. Oh and we replace our lost 2016 1st with the Bulls.

We could possibly be a better team AFTER the trade.

Not to mention the fact that his role in the offense is to be a threat from outside, so that his teammates have more room to work with. Often, he doesn't even try to take his man off the dribble because of the motion going on around him. He's either looking to shoot, make an entry pass, or swing the ball ahead of the defensive rotation. In the VERY FEW instances where he posted up high and worked in an ISO, I believe he performed adequately, maybe even underwhelmingly. But faulting him for the fact that he doesn't play ISO-ball enough to suit you isn't really fair, considering the bulk of the offensive scheme is designed around him specifically NOT playing ISO-ball in the first place.

Jalen Rose said Wes Mathews will go to Chicago. At around 41:06.

That figures. Matthews wants to go where Aldridge goes, as does Lillard. The thread about Lillard going to the Lakers is inaccurate. Sly, could you change the title of that thread from the Lakers to the Bulls? Thanks.

I dislike the Bulls less than I dislike the Lakers, so I feel a lot better now.

If Aldridge is looking for an easy road to the Championship, which is what everyone is hinting at, he should just ask the Blazers to drop him to the D League for a season.

Or man up and dont take a max. Just a nice healthy secure contract that allows us enough money to go find a 3rd all star or upgrade a couple positions, which will in turn hopefully make our bench even stronger.

Fuckin A.

Larry Coon (via twitter) believes LMA is the Lakers #1 choice on the FA market.

I am sure it is. But LA or NY would be a big mistake for LMA. I would be really surprised if that was his choice. I think he would be miserable in those two massive media markets. He should consult with Dwight Howard first.

Well, Matthews said on Los Angeles TV that he's going there. There was a long thread about it right here. Now there's a thread about Lillard going to the Lakers. So just logically extend the facts proven on this board: These guys get along, so if Aldridge leaves, he'll stick with Matthews and Lillard. Next season, they will all be Lakers.

Wouldn't it be easier just to make a move for Kobe instead of turning our entire starting lineup to the Lakers?

You outLakered me. Checkmate, I lose!

Wait, I can still out-do you. I want Mitch Kupchak and Jim Buss included in the deal.
