The one thing i agree with you on.Fuck this guy man.. who cares
I'd much rather retire Sabonis' number... but even then I don't think he deserves it.Whether they actually want to or not doesn't really matter. This organization has shown they care a lot about how it's presented to outside parties (ie. free agents). It would be more odd if they didn't retire LMA's number.
He went the to the Nets when he had the opportunity to come back.

If you weren't instrumental in winning a title, or a model teammate and leader who put up exceptional numbers and won us tons of games you don't get your name up there IMO.
Sabonis fits the bill better than Aldridge, but still not enough. Though I wouldn't be upset about it given his body of work in Europe...
But Aldridge up there just cheapens it, IMO.
Dame wanted him, that's all you need to knowDid he have an opportunity to come back? I didn't get the impression we wanted him.
I'd go along with that. And I'd be ok with Aldridge being on a ring of honor. We should really only have a handful of names hanging.
Walton
Lucas
Drexler
Dame (when he retires)
I think we need a ring of honor for Porter, Kersey, Duck, Roy, etc.
I would boo during the ceremony.
But this is 100% false. Aldridge gave them years to trade him. He told them point blank he wanted to play in Texas. They thought they could change his mind. They didnt. He made comments publicly about being here, but to the team he was crystal clear.I just think it sets a really bad precedent to retire the number of a guy who lied and bailed on the team in his prime.
At least Clyde gave us an opportunity to trade him.

I don't know what was going through his head or why he made the comments he did, but I know what he told them privately was far different than what he said in the press. I don't love that, but there was no blindsiding the team.I agree, I'm sure he did tell the team, but going out and publicly telling the fans you want to retire the best blazer ever, and then telling the team privately you want out, puts the team in a very tough situation. It makes the team out to be the bad guy. That's not fair.
