LaMichael James Arrested

Ouch BD got banned!!!

Yeah, he's an odd one. Kind of puts his story of "my ex-wife's cop boyfriend beat my infant son" into a different light. I'm not saying it didn't happen but it does make you wonder what exactly did happen. Bottom line, I'm not sure if he's mentally stable enough to be a full time single parent.

Prayers for his son.

Is Jesse Jackson going to make the short trip down to Eugene (he's in Portland) and demand that James be held responsible for his actions?

No need.

James is black and in a white man's court without a dime . .. no doubt he will be held responsible by the man and do his time.

Don't like to see this. I heard he plead not guilty though...so hopefully it's a false accusation or something. Time will tell.

This does make me sad, I will admit. I always liked James and he seemed to be a pretty good kid (maybe he is, we still don't know all the details).

Well I guess if it is true and James is suspended or whatever, the Ducks are fortunate that it's a position where they're absolutely LOADED with talent (assuming they can remain out of jail), so I'm not too worried from that standpoint.

But yeah, not a great off-season for the Ducks. Not sure what else to say.

Wow, this University of Oregon football program is sure looking like a recruits assault paradise!
Heres the very brief story on Bowlin who was part of that brawl with Beard. He has now left the team and school.

Heres the retaliation by Sophomore Matt simms (dismissed off team) on the attack on his teammate Rob Beard.

Wow, this football program is really fucked up. Looks no end in sight. Lets see who else gets kicked off.

In the competitive, ruthless world of recruiting these days character flaws can easily be overlooked. It doesn't matter where your at, there's the chance that players are going to do stupid things that could possibly make the program look bad. It just seems like in college athletics things like this spread like wildfires in spurts when they do happen.

Oregon State has had more than its fair share of players doing retarded things in their recent past.

All within the last year or so? Had to bring up OS again in self defense didn't you? I am talking about the UO program RIGHT NOW.

Oregon State problems:
2005: Two OS football players were arrested after trying to bribe a cab driver with pot.
2005: One OS football player was drunk and caught with a sheep.
2000: Four Oregon State football players were arrested after fighting another student at a Frat house.

Zagfan. Should I start a list of the UO football players and their problems?

I don't see any Oregon State fans piling on here. Paranoid much? So your defense is boys will be boys??? :sigh: Good thing you aren't the coach or AD at U of O. I would hope they would take violence against women (or anyone for that matter) a little more seriously. I just can't believe how indifferent you are about this. If this was a Blazer or a Beaver I would want the coach to do something about it, and I wouldn't just say oh well, it is a position of strength so who cares.

Shawn Kemp is going to have 16+ sons looking for football or basketball scholarships in the next 10years, incidents like Blount and James is going to give Oregon the inside track in signing them.

Going back to 2000, like Nate Dogg's list?

I'd be surprised if the only incidents for UO in the last decade happened in the last year.

Well the original comment said "All in the last year or so" so thats what I was referring to sorry for not making that clear. And just for the record.. i am in NO WAY condoning any of the behavior.

Zagfan.... Heres some more. Are you sure you wanted to bad mouth the beaver program as an excuse?

The University of Oregon has some serious issues with on the field and off the field behaviors with their players. It needs to be addressed and nothing is being done.

Heres another bad Duck.

July 28, 2008 Oregon junior linebacker Kevin Garrett, who was suspended from the team over the weekend, was arrested early Saturday and accused of driving under the influence of intoxicants and resisting arrest.

Don't forget these other ducks that were dismissed or requested to leave the team in the 2009-2010 season:

Andrew Iupati

Terrance Montgomery

EUGENE -- Three Oregon football players -- including freshman quarterback Darron Thomas -- were involved in a speed-racing crash early Thursday in Springfield that sent two of them to a hospital.

Thomas remains in contention to start Saturday at Washington State despite suffering a bruised elbow on his right throwing arm when he rode in the front passenger seat of a Ford Mustang driven by teammate Eddie Pleasant.

"He's fine," Oregon coach Mike Bellotti said of Thomas, who threw for 210 yards and three touchdowns -- all in the fourth quarter -- while making his college debut in the Ducks' home loss to Boise State.

Pleasant, a redshirt freshman linebacker, was cited by Springfield police for reckless driving and speed racing. Pleasant, 19, and sophomore receiver Jamere Holland, 20, will miss Saturday's game because of injuries suffered in the accident, Bellotti said before Thursday's practice.

I think Zagsfan used a poor excuse and should have shut up his mouth.

The Ducks have a big problem with their program and their Athletic Director should push the Football coach for more disciplinary acts or have a code of conduct. If these conducts are broken the football players should be suspended.

I could see myself making a t-shirt with all those players mentioned but then I will find myself beat up at a bar. :D

Nah, just make sure you include the America's Most Wanted logo.

My point wasn't Oregon vs. Oregon St.

My point was that no school is immune from having something like this happen. I see it at every school.

Recruiting is cut-throat now days. A lot is invested into football programs, its fairly easy to overlook character in order to get the best athletes.

As far as I can tell, Beavers fans like to bring up past transgressions off the field by Oregon to make up for their play on the field.

Fact is, Oregon St. is a mediocre program not on the Ducks level as far as success, exposure, $$$ and facilities.

I think it is more like "some Beaver fans remember when some Oregon fans were so quick to point out anything that one of their players did, so why the sudden silence from those people?". You'll notice the distinct lack of some notorious Duck fans who like to try to shit on the Beavers, whenever the occasion arises, in this thread. It's just like how over on realgm there are two very big Duck fans who would bring up anything a Beaver player did, but have remained oddly silent on this subject.

But let's just conveniently forget those Duck fans that make sheep jokes still to this day, and again aren't in this thread.

Sheep jokes are just funny. I mean c'mon, stealing a retarded sheep? That will always be funny.

I came from a Duck family, all my relatives are Duck fans. However, I also have a buddy who played on the Beavers World Series baseball teams. I root for them, but I also root for OSU if they are worth a damn. To me, I just find Beavers fans much more annoying. Its almost like they have an inferiority complex. OSU fans are waving their flags from their minivans everywhere when the football season starts, then after their annual choke job to start every season you see those flags disappear and fans tight-lipped. A couple wins to get back on track and those flags re-appear and they smother you with Beaver nation.

I guess we should all just beat up women, I mean everyone's doing it... and if I am a good athlete zagsfan won't care.

You can say all those same things about Duck fans - perhaps you are just clouded since all your relatives are Duck fans.

Well your the one to bring up the subject. You should have made more of a solid statement behind your reasonings instead of a one liner. How else are people going to respond?

Well duh. The 29 consecutive losing seasons didn't help the program.

But lets take a look what the program has done now in the past decade with the same facilities. More OS football players are in the NFL now because their coaches are turning their players into better athletes and making them believe in themselves. Its the staff that has done the success not so much about the $$ that has been donated by Mr. Knight and alumni.

Again Zagsfan, your avoiding the issue at hand and your not admitting that UO has a problem with its current program. Players are getting into trouble. Does this make an impact when recruits hear and read about Oregon? They might change their mind knowing that the University doesn't care and they won't feel a bond with its staff. Is this the reputation that the UO wants to put out? If I was AD I would fix this issue.

While I'm not getting into the who has a better program argument... I will say I dont think the Program has a problem no.

Do you think that there should be a punishment? If so, what? To me, this conduct is worse than what Blount did. It is not on national TV, and it might not be as big of a microscope, but punching a douchebag vs. choking a 19 year old female.... I think James' actions are more violent. Should he lose the season? If the investigation indicates that he probably did what he is accused of doing, and in light of the incidents in the past 12 months, if I were the AD I would have to seriously consider suspending him for the season.
