Late night driving..

Why is it that late night driving (I'm talking like 2-3 AM) seems to create the best songs on the radio?

I was driving up the Oregon coast the other night (well, morning) and got tired of listening to my flash drive. So I turned on the radio and found the best non Spanish speaking/country music/conservative talk/weird talk radio station.

The first song I heard was this one.

I haven't heard that song (on the radio) in AGES.

Why is stuff like this played at 2 in the morning, but no other time??

I wonder if it's because the over night hosts have more freedom, or just don't care?

I have not listened to music on the radio in 20 years man so I can't really comment on this.
But as far as driving late night I now listen to nothing but Podcasts and comedy MP3s. just got here to my hotel in Seattle right now, and for the last three hours I was listening to some spoken word by Henry Rollins. Made the trip go by pretty fast.
