I scared.
I just went to an iphone 5 forum (
http://forums.imore.com/iphone-5-forum/) trying to catch a clue when it'd be available (Sep. 21 is the current estimate) and whether it would be available at Verizon. Clicking on a thread that I hoped would tell me Verizon, AT&T or both Verizon and AT&T would carry the iphone 5, this is what I found:
" found an interesting article about LTE phones from CDMA carriers (Verizon) and GSM carriers (AT&T) The Radio Performance Disparity of the Galaxy Nexus on GSM and CDMA - Mobile Central - Binary Outcast
I am hoping people can chime in on their thoughts about the article.
Here is my problem, I have ATT right now and my contract is over. LTE is on for both ATT (June 2012) and Verizon (October 11) but I am about 3-5 miles from the closest working tower but it sounds like LTE will come to my area by the end of the year. Is there anyway to tell if the iphone for Verizon will be using a CDMA2000 device that uses a VIA Telecom CDMA baseband modem? I had an HTC Rezound for a day that worked great in an LTE area but when I was in my town that only had 3g Verizon it had a terrible time working correctly, especially where I worked because of the weak signal. I am afraid that a Verizon device may have a lot of trouble with my work area and handling CDMA/LTE like the article states.
Are you better off with GSM LTE devices or CDMA LTE devices.
I have posted the article below:
The Radio Performance Disparity of the Galaxy Nexus on GSM and CDMA
The Samsung Galaxy Nexus. It's Google's flagship phone that is designed to complement the Android 4.0 “Ice Cream Sandwich” operating system software. With high end specifications (for 2011) and highly optimized software, the Galaxy Nexus is supposed to show off what Android can really do without any interference from carriers and OEMs. However, that wound up not truly being the case in the United States with the CDMA/LTE variant for Verizon Wireless and Sprint."
Lol ... I have NO idea idea what most of that means. Is it good or bad to be a binary outcast? I thought our forum was pretty geeky and I thought I was pretty geeky, but now realize that it could be worse for all of us. There was one 12 page thread about whether the new iphone 5 should have an LED indicator light indicating you have an email. 12 pages.
