Latest Red Sox scandal...

He did both...it's against the rules of MLB. And it wasn't a very smart thing to do during the game, especially considering how bad things have been for the Sox...Ferrell will be lucky to make it out of July.

Sandoval was a spoiled little guppy in San Francisco, thumbed his nose up at playing with a winner and came to Boston. That other asshole they signed (Hanley) has been a head case since day one. In either case the Bostons won't get what they paid for. So the "Panda" got one game, not often that I agree with Sutcliff he should have gotten more. The only thing the Bostons will accomplish this season is to keep the other 4 AL East teams out of last place.

^^^gotta believe that MLB is gonna weigh in on this too...they may fine him.

Damn, am I ever glad Hanley was sent packing, out of L.A.........

I've never in my life seen a player unwilling to get his head in the game......

from watching girls in the stands, when the game was on, costing His Team the game, to failing to even try to run out a passed ball on strike 3 swinging. Lazy, immature mother fkr......

For some reason there is NO toxic smog cloud hanging over Chavez Ravine this year....its gone to Bahstan......

Not looking for a fight, please explain to me the difference in ferrel being responsible for sandovals actions on field to what I post about girardi being responsible for the actions of a Yankee player, thanks

It's a shame with Sandoval because though not even close to deserving the money the Red Sox are paying him, in San Francisco he not only played for a winning organization but he had the world by the balls & was loved by the fans. On top of this the Giants made him a very nice offer to stay with the team. Again more then he was worth IMHO. To say the Giants disrespected him was a joke. And now here he is in Boston playing for a last place team & an organization that couldn't find its own ass with both hands. So fuck him & the Red Sox, they deserve each other.

You might want to go back and re-read the article.......

The problem is noted as being in the Clubhouse, I've never seen any player Instagram on the field.

...^^^

Amen.......

What the hell is in the water in that town?

Rick, what Sandoval did IMO, is an indictment on our society and culture in general in this country. When I'm out in public I rarely get to see kids faces if they own a phone. I only see the top of their heads because their head is always down while texting/playing on their phone.
...and their parents are not much better. Rather than actually spend time with their children, they'd rather just just pacify them with an electronic device of some sort. And the kids have become catatonic and stagnant because they seldom go outside and play...after all, "there's an app for that".
...the county's productivity has also suffered greatly because of smart phones and the like. I'd like to know how much time employees waste each day at work by "tweeting", "facebooking", etc. when they should be working and producing...this is one of the many reasons China is kicking our asses. They actually make something...the US?...not so much.

...this didn't happen on the field. But yeah, I would imagine that this won't help Ferrell's chances of keeping his job...although the players should be able to know the difference between right and wrong...and what Pablo did was not only against league policy it was also against team policy...unless Ferrell had followed Panda to the clubhouse urinal, I don't know how he could have prevented Sandoval from using his cell phone during the game.

Sandoval claims he felt disrespected by the Giants and that's why he left. Then he goes to Boston and behaves in this manner.

...never understood why he felt "disrespected", or why Cano felt the Yanx disrespected him.

...I've read different reports but for the most part, the money the Giants offered Sandoval was the same deal that he agreed to with the Sox.

...Cano?...considering his numbers, I would think the Seattle brass and the fans feel pretty disrespected right now.

The last place I worked prior to retirement had a strict no cell phone policy, meaning you did not bring them into the building. And if you were stupid enough to bring them in and forgot to shut them off and the phone rang you were hunted to the end of the earth and written up. Did not look good when layoff time occurred. One idiot challenged that saying he used his cell phone alarm to alert him to break time. He was written up and informed that as an adult employee he should know when breaks occur by looking at his watch. The next layoff that occurred found him out the door. Any one who has earned the privilege of playing major league ball at the salaries and working conditions they receive should only be too happy to follow the set standards of conduct!

...well said, but some people will vehemently protest and insist that it is part of the Constitutional Rights to have and use those phones, even where they are forbidden.

I understand it's against the rules and all, but I have 2 questions...

1. How would this impact Ferrell and his being lucky to make it out of July?

2. Even though it is against the rules, I really don't see what the big deal is aside from being insulting to his teammates and coaches... it's only making him look bad...

Frankly the Sandoval things gives them a reason to fire him if that's the direction they're leaning.

^^^this.

...also, if this had happened to a team that was playing very well it probably would not have been made an issue. But just like when the chicken/beer thing occurred, and even though it wouldn't normally be considered "a big deal", it coincided with a time when the Sox were already losing and in disarray... and in a big market like Boston, it was magnified even more..
...and only a week or so ago John Henry gave both Cherington and Ferrell a "vote of confidence"...and as we've seen in sports before, sometimes that's ultimately a "kiss of death"...since the vote of confidence, the Sox have gone 5-10.

...if the Sox don't play .500 ball or better for the rest of the month, I think Ferrell could be let go.

...and the linked article by Edes in the OP also explained why this incident "could cost manager John Farrell dearly".

...hammer, I gave my reasons why, and like I said, the article says about the same thing.

It's the old "when it rains it pours" story. Looking around at teams short of expectations we see that Farrell, Mac Clendon, Ventura, and possibly Williams could be on managerial hot seats.

Sandoval's actions don't indicate a clubhouse issue
Sandoval said he accepted the punishment he deserved
The team's on field performance should be a reason... I still fail to see how Sandoval's actions in this case should impact Ferrell's stance...

Because the bottom line is that the Red Sox are ten games under and 9 games out in a year where the AL isn't exactly blowing anyone away. That being said I don't know what they expected with no pitching and an offense that isn't murder's row.

The on field performance is just cause to fire him... but Sandoval's actions are what I'm not getting the connection.

I agree that the way the team has played is reason, but the actions of ONE PLAYER isn't a reason..

With Ramirez, Ortiz & Sandoval I think they were expecting one.

...hammer, again, it's a combination of things. There's been talk that Ferrell has "lost control" of the team. And just last week there was the dugout altercation with Miley...and now this.
...nobody said or implied that Ferrell's fate was shaky only because of what Sandoval did.

just statements like this would be the reason doesn't seem to jive... that's all I'm saying...

...you lost me...do you mean my statements or the statements in the article that don't seem to jive?
