It is a pretty disturbing story and not only because two women were shot at,but because surrounding homes had bullet holes in them. The cops didn't even try to make a correct identification, nor can they be immediately fired.
"Triple irony" is a good phrase to describe the situation, to quote the lawyer. It is nice they ended up catching that creepy serial killer dude, but not at the expense of basic operating procedure.
