I'm rooming with Woj down here in Vegas for the next 10 days. He lets me see the bombs before he drops 'em!

"Mrs HCP has a busy schedule ahead as she will reportedly meet with 21 unnamed forum members before the first summer league game"

If he says it, take it to the bank.

I was shown why that TPE is only 1.8M:

" The 2011 CBA mostly eliminated BYC -- in fact, the term "Base Year Compensation" was removed from the agreement entirely. The rules formerly known as BYC now apply under just one circumstance -- during sign-and-trade transactions (see question number 92). If a team re-signs its Larry Bird or Early Bird free agent in order to trade the player in a sign-and-trade transaction, the player's new salary is greater than the minimum, he receives a raise greater than 20%, and the team is at or above the cap immediately after the signing1, then the player's outgoing salary for trade purposes is either his previous salary or 50% of his new salary, whichever is greater. The team receiving the player always uses his new salary."

so then, yeah, unfortunately it's a nearly unusable TPE unless some team is looking to dump a player on a vet minimum contract

Thanks for the nugget. That makes more sense.

I think this was mostly Olshey building some good will with another team and a player agent. It also enhances Portland's rep as an organization that takes care of it's players, even ones that are leaving
That is the way it reads for sure. It's player and personnel reputation building.

My guess is we thought Hood was gone. When Hood re-signed with us, the plans had to be adjusted.

Stuff like that is important, especially when you're on the edge of contending. If you're a 41-41 franchise, it doesn't help much. However, knowing you'll do right by players if it doesn't work out can oftentimes be the deciding factor between two contenders. Who helps players on their way out and who burns bridges?

Shit, I read that like a week ago too.

and how long have you been in this forum? You can delete your own posts if you actually made a mistake. Maybe you should take care of it.
I literally did the second I realized it...

This board is full of people with giant ego, people with the tinniest skin and people who constantly try to stir up shit.... and people that are all 3 at the same time

Doesn't go well together surprisingly
