Getting Jermaine O'neal would cripple this team.

We'd have to give up RJ and Swat/Boone.

You want to take our only AVERAGE bench player and insert him into the starting lineup? We'd average like 80 points a game. No!
we are either making a minor trade involving Magliore, Marcus, Draft picks, Antione Wright etc. OR we are trading either Vince or RJ.
</div>
all we would need to give up is Rj and Marcus or maybe RJ and krstic. do you realize what having a decent big who can score in the post would do to this team? we'd still get to keep two of our three bigs.
</div>
Nenad has ZERO trade value...he's a free agent to be who has yet to prove he is healthy. Same goes for Marcus. If the Pacers were asking For RJ, Nenad and Marcus before this season why would they accept less now? Plus they really don't NEED RJ. Secondly say they do this deal.

This is your lineup

PG: Jason Kidd, Darrell Armstrong
SG:Vince Carter, Antione Wright
SF: Boki Nachbar
PF: Jermaine O'neal, Swat, Malik Allen
C: Josh Boone, Jason Collins, Jamal Magliore.

See the Problem? Boki is a significant downgrade from RJ as a starter while our bench is now anemic. Meaning when our starters sit teams can go on those 15-2, 20-4 runs we all hate so much. I hate these goddamn Jermaine Oneal is our savior threads.

I'm not even sure it was higher than the rim.

It was so far away, it was hard to tell.

It was definitely a shot, though.

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (NOMAM @ Jan 11 2008, 11:14 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'><div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (jloc857 @ Jan 11 2008, 11:04 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>who exactly are you giving up to get Miller? He has a pretty large contract. Either too many role player and draft picks or one of the big three would have to be involved. No reason to waste resources on a player who won't correct the true problem. Also for all this "potential" around SWAT...its still just potential. He relies on his athleticism way to much and is constantly in foul trouble. Yes he can get better but I think we all need to chill out on hyping him up so much. Boone is nearly averaging a double double as a starter and is the primary reason for our turn around since mid December. I don't want to hear fans even talk about removing him from the starting lineup. When Nenad is healthy they should bring him off the bench keep Boone starting. His hustle on the boards, defensive prowness and post play warrant the starting gig. Once again he is are best big man NOW.</div>

Collins + Magloire makes it work in matching up contracts. Just a question of if throwing in a pick would get the Kings interested in a trade. If Thorn had been able to pull up off a trade like that then he could have used the trade exception to get a shooter off the bench. With that trade exception gone it makes things a little more difficult now. And if not Miller than maybe even Moore could work. He filled in for an injured Krstic so well last season.
</div>

Even if you threw in a first rounder they probably wouldnt take that trade. Collins is a horrible contract, Jamal Magliore is a free agent and the draft pick will be in the high teens low 20s. They could get better value. Also if we give up our first we are completely killing our chances at improving the bench. Miller would put this team dangerously close to the luxury tax meaning no FA signings and maybe losing a guy like Kristic.

haha are you guys talking about his airball, shot from the baseline, that went over the rim?

Yeah. I watched it like 10 times.

I think it was actually never above the level of the rim and it was about 4 feet left.

I hope somebody has this game and can YouTube this classic shot.

Yeah, when he was playing well! So I'd say those smilies are accurate, but I don't know if they should be laughing :-(

I just said it in another thread but give boone and sean an off season with some hard work on developing off. games. Sean's potential is super high, and i fully believe he can add a consistent mid range jump, shot, and more post moves to his freakish athleticism. I mean just watch him shoot, it doesn't look bad. He takes some crazy turn around fades, while not smart, and he misses em, they don't look bad. Boone need's to get some work on back to the basket moves get him a nice little skill set, and they are gonna be able to compliment each other as starters. I know it's wishful thinking but i don't think it's out of reach.

Haha. Thanks, NOMAM!

Definitely higher than the rim, but a foot left and two feet long.

Wide open, too. Completely uncontested.

I thought Wright was shooting the ball pretty well from 3 in the beginning of the season. Then once he had that shoulder injury, he started to miss everything. I wonder if the shoulder still bothers him enough to affect his shot, or if he's just lost all confidence in himself. I'm guessing it's the latter. He kind of seems hesitant, or he's trying to aim it in instead of letting it fly. Or maybe he just can't shoot. I don't know.

What bothers me about tonight's game, was the fact that Wright got so many minutes, esp. in the 4th, when he hasn't played in how many games? That and stupid rotations. Correct me if im wrong but isn't the point of having a lead to keep it and build on it. I don't understand how Frank can put a lineup that can just flat out not score out there and watch 10-12 point leads vanish. There's a trend between the 2nd and 4th quarter with the line ups that were used, and that's pretty much why we lost. Frank needs to realize that this is the NBA, teams are going to score, you can't put 3 guys on the floor at the same time who can't make a damn shot and expect to hold a lead regardless of how "good" their De is.

Ok whoever said to play Swat over Boone is not all there.

Swat is more of a 4 where as Boone is more of a 5.

Swat would get eatten at the 5.

Plus Boone is getting better as we go, Swat is going to wrong way.

Yeah, Thorn's supposed sexual preference totally has something to do with how well this team is shooting, or for that matter doing.

Stop with a gay bashing, it's not cool, it's not funny, the only thing it is is unnecessary.

co-sign. a persons like for male, female, animal, mineral or vegetable should not matter.

Yes he's had crappy GM form last couple years (overpaying Colins and Carter, Letting House go, drafting Antoine Wright, etc) but if it turned out Ru Paul could do a better job Id be the first to say "long live the queen!"

Cmon Jizz, I love your permanent cynacism and vitrol, but gay bashing, not cool.

Just stick to calling him incompetent, not queer... mmmkay?

Were there really people wanting Rodney Buford back earlier in this thread? That's just sad. Why would you want to downgrade the team?

<div class='quotetop'>QUOTE (JCB @ Jan 12 2008, 12:48 PM) <{POST_SNAPBACK}></div><div class='quotemain'>Were there really people wanting Rodney Buford back earlier in this thread? That's just sad. Why would you want to downgrade the team?</div>

Yea, this thread was going downhill once Buford was being mentioned as a better player than anyone on our bench.

And Antoine...wow. Even I coulda made that shot. Cmon now, you're better than that!!

If Buford's name is being mentioned I'll throw my hat in the ring: bring back Brandon Armstrong.

You guys really jump on this team when they lose, and are very ecstatic when they win.
You lost to Boston by 9, and Boston wants low scoring games, cause they have 3 big guns. Bostons goal is to frustrate you, it happens. It's not all bad.

Most fans here myself included want this team to compete for a championship not just a playoff spot...we are consistently having problems against top 10 teams and everyone is just adressing those problems.

lol, well, at least Rodney could make a few shots, unlike Wright who probably couldn't knock down an open 3 if his life depended on it. lol, but I don't really mind Wright. I hope he gets his shooting stroke back soon.

Is it more because its a mix of a couple older stars and a lot of youth and they can't decide which way to go? that would really frustrate me, if thats the case.

you know what sux? we missed 16 FTS!!!!!! if we had made atleats 20, we'd be blowing them out. its the little things that always do this team in. thats what pisses me off
