OT LeBron James Goes on Twitter Rant, Blames Superstar Injuries on Lack of Rest

Exactly. There are a lot of people out there picking up the slack for everyone else and these overpaid jerks act like they’re making some kind of sacrifice. I know a lot of these guys grew up poor, but once their talent was recognized (usually a a very young age) they have had their asses kissed and their sense of self importance blown all out of any kind of proportion. They forget there is a real world out there, and that their actual contributions to it are mostly superficial at the end of the day. I just can’t find a reason to feel any kind of sympathy for them in this particular situation.

Exactly. They get to live in a fantasy world. They get paid millions and millions to play basketball. And the more they get paid, the less effort they give. I don't want to to hear their complaining. There are people out there...most people doing alot harder and riskier jobs. Alot of those people didn't get a condensed work year and they get paid peanuts comparatively.

1) The @Scalma post above refutes this
2) It feels like whining/blaming the nba for his playoff failures/trying to protect his legacy/feeling his window closing
Did you not see the @wizenheimer post right above mine that completely refuted the one source @Scalma pointed to? The fact is if it did or did not result in more injuries (which it definitely did) the turnaround time and compressed schedule were reckless... especially for the teams that played the longest in the bubble... both of which were missing a ton of rotation players when it counted just eight months later.

Like I said it was sour grapes from LeBron but he had every logical reason in the world to complain... he (like Joker) didn't have his number two guy when he needed him after saying before the season started that the turnaround and compressed schedule would result in those exact types of scenarios.

LeBron James is the poster boy for all that is wrong in the NBA today. And Durant, Irving, Davis et al are his posse of coattail riding, self absorbed bloated egos that help keep the big markets in the driver’s seat. Fuck them all, big and small. They are eventually going to kill the golden goose. It’s very hard to root for self absorbed assholes who seem to think they actually matter more to this world than anyone else. There’s a reason they are paid the big bucks…..so I wish they’d just play the game and shut the fuck up………unless it’s about legitimate social issues. At least then they have a platform that actually matters…….
These guys put their bodies through way more than most, even those that do manual labor. They have a limited window and the decisions to shrink their time to recover after a season and during the next season have real life ramifications. I don't care that they're multimillionaires... that has no bearing in free market capitalism. The fact is that they took on undue risk that wasn't originally negotiated and did so for less money. That's totally on the NBAPA and LeBron was complaining about them before the season as well. This isn't LeBron being entitled, it's him being a businessman observing himself getting fucked over.

They play basketball for fucks sake

That's what they do and they do it at the highest level and you just can't do that for long because of the wear and tear on your body... so when the league and the player's union decide to heap some more wear and tear on their bodies, theoretically limiting even further how long they can make their millions. I don't begrudge a player for calling them out on it. When he's right, then of course he's going to call them out on it again.

He may be “right” in your opinion and that’s fine. I spent 35 years in a particular profession. It was hard, dirty work with a great deal of “wear and tear”, both mentally and physically. My employer changed the rules/moved the goal posts all the time. And I’d like to think I did it at a “high level” all the way, despite the toll it took over time. And I didn’t make a lifetime’s worth of earnings in less than a year, ever. If a man (or woman) hires you to build a fence and you agree to do so, then you try to build them the best damn fence possible, because that is what they are paying you for. They aren’t paying you to whine or change the terms of service. The boss is the boss and if there aren’t any rules or laws that say otherwise, then the boss has the hammer. LeBron James is 100% tone deaf to the people who are helping to put money in his already inflated wallet. So my original point stands……fuck LeBron James and the rest of his self centered, obliviousness whiner buddies. Shut up and play…….and keep cashing those obscene checks. Guys like LeBron James (and Kylie Irving, Kevin Durant, Kawhi Leonard et al) have me on verge of moving on from the NBA as it is. Just a bunch of self important whiners who are destroying the league……

nope, didn't see it.

This is another reason Pro Basketball players shouldn't be in the Olympics. Can't have it both ways. Rest is rest. LeBron shouts about injuries, when Father Time is creeping over his shoulder, and the Unibrow's previous history of injury returns, but was all fine and dandy when he was playing in the Olympics, gaining all those accolades with less rest in the offseason.

Stand back at a glance and see that many of the players that have gone down have been injury prone players without covid and the condensed season.

Teams that use almost all of their cap space on a couple of players are BEGGING for something to go wrong. When they do it with players like Anthony Davis or Kyrie Irving, who are hurt/unavailable on the regular, then they shouldn't be shocked that those guys are out more often.

Whether there were more injuries or not than normal, I don't know. ESPN's article includes games for rest, and load management in a shorter season would seem more prevalent than normal. If you lift those games out, I don't see much evidence that injuries were more pronounced (of course they MIGHT have been without that rest, so who knows?)

LeBron ever saying "I told you so" is laughable, though. The dude spews out dumb things all the time, and even if he's right here he should have some grace or else expect to be called out for his other idiocy even more often.

They make millions in 1 year playing a game. A lifetime of money. Even if their career is shortened by injuries, they still leave millionaires. They are lucky for that and shouldn't be complaining. So sorry poor LeBron didn't win a championship this year. So sorry he and Davis got injured. They will just have to sit at home with their hundreds of millions of dollars. Give me a fucking break.

Exactly. Davis is Mr Fucking glass. He played more games this season and playoffs than anyone expected. Its an improvement for him.

I don't need to hear Lebron's opinion about social issues. I've heard it and he's embarrassingly naive and ignorant.

He loved the play-in tourny until he was in it.
he loves the playoffs until he's out of it.
he loves injuries on other teams that make his run easy, hates it when its his team.
also, as we've seen im sure if the chinese demand for league games increased he'd be all for playing more instantly.

he's so fuckin basic.

That’s an awfully long-winded virtue signal.

I'd love to see the quotes that get everyone so worked up about LeBron feeling too self important or naive. Go crazy people, prove your point without broad slanderous strokes.
