I understand that. But slaves weren't encouraged to own weapons. We didn't start gun control until the slave's descendants started owning weapons in higher numbers, and to prevent that from happening.In those days people in areas with slaves were required to train as well as own a rifle in order to be able to stifle any potential slave uprisings who often outnumbered the Whites.
I'm proposing we encourage those descendants to be well versed in the operation and use of their own chosen means of defense, up to and including standard issue infantry weapons.
