LeBron to the NFL (2 Viewers)

Damn you went psycho on me, but at least get the facts right.

You seem confused by Total QBR. Cam Newton has the most Action plays in the entire league, meaning he's asked to do a lot more than any other QB.

WHAT THE FUCK DO LONG JUMPERS HAVE TO DO WITH THROWING A FOOTBALL?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?! The NBA 3 point line is 23' 9" from the basket. Even rounding up to 24' that is an 8 yard pass from the line of scrimmage. So again I ask....what does shooting long distance have in common with throwing a football on a damn dime down the field?

Sorry but I got this strange vibe from you, you think only Danny Ainge would make a great QB? That seemed like a weird response to me, like only some statuesque white guy can play QB.

Listen bruh, sorry but you've already been proven wrong. Michael Vick is a terrible QB with no height or durability when he was in Atlanta.
Size and athletic ability have some to do with the QB position, not anywhere close to EVERYTHING. Bledsoe, Marino, Falco, Raplesberger, Manning(S) to name a few aren't at all considered athletic QB's.

As for Cam Newton "domninating"? He is 1-4 as a starting QB, with a total QB rating of 46.6. Good for 20th out of 32 QB rated for the year.

That sounds pretty desperate, I would love to see you criticize those other QBs in their rookie seasons. Lol whatever.

You sure you want to stick to this nonsensical position next year? Also it is 18th out of 32. Sorry you got your feelings hurt by Cam Newton in the title game, but yeah he is one of the best rookie QBs ever in the NFL, if not the ROTY by the end of the season.

Look up Total QBR and try again, you fucked up dude.

For almost every position on the field in the NFL, there is something required that no almost NBA players have: serious mass.

Kickers and punters can get away without having great general strength, and a WR or DB could conceivably get by without it (see: Deion Sanders) but at TE? I don't believe that a guy--even who is a pass-catcher, rather than a blocker--who's 6'8" could play at 250 pounds.

Gronkowski is 6'6" and one of the taller tight ends... and he weighs 265. Finley is 6'4", 240ish. Gates is 6'4", 260.

James would have to put on 20+ pounds of muscle, IMO, to avoid being broken in half by the monsters that would be hitting him. And, as powerful as James is in the NBA, there's no guarantee that his body would be able to put that kind of weight on very easily, let alone stay injury-free.

In terms of playing QB: I think that many NBA players have the innate capabilities, but at the NFL level players have had 15+ years working on their craft, and there's no WAY that a guy could pick it up at that level within a year or two. Heck, there are amazingly talented NFL players who played QB in college (Hines Ward, Antwaan Randle El, et al) who just weren't good enough, skill-wise, to make it in the NFL.

That seems fair, I concur. A potential NBA player would pretty much have to switch careers and probably play college football. But this is merely a discussion about potential.

You are right about 18th instead of 20th, my bad....That makes all the difference in the world.Cam Newton is not the issue here. I think he might end up being a good QB someday, and is doing far better than most predicted, including myself. Your initial question that started this entire fiasco was
I always wonder how many NBA players could have been great QBs. The skillset is all there.
My answer was Ainge because Ainge was a high school all-American QB in high school, and considered one of the top football recruits in the country. Lebron didn't even play QB in high school.

And I might have missed something, but when did Michael Vick come into this conversation? Michael Vick, by the way has an overall losing record as the Eagles starting QB. I found that shocking when I heard it

Also, as a global mod, you should know that there aren't supposed to be any personal attacks, so calling me a fucked up dude shouldn't be allowed. I get that there is a double standard, but there really shouldn't be

Yeah you fucked up dude, how is that a personal attack?

The most easily offended people should never control free speech. Also of course LeBron would not be a good QB today, but this is just about potential so I have fun with this subject. Newton will be a fine QB but NBA Superstars are more athletic and more skilled overall.

I believe he said "you fucked up" not that you are fucked up. IMO saying someone fucked up isn't a personal attack. And for the record, I did just have to edit one of Huevon's posts in the OT section for calling someone a moron so I'm not giving him a pass for being a mod.

Yeah that's right, Sly was being a petty person in that other thread and edited me.

So there, stop the conspiracy theories. Lol.

Not skilled at QB though. Maybe a good example is Charlie Ward? Heisman trophey winner played in the NBA because he was not an NFL caliber QB prospect.

No comma messed me up. No worries. I never care about personal attacks for real anyway. Still mad Mixum got banned though

No, I wasn't being petty. Sorry that you feel that way. It was a personal attack and it needed to go.

Why was Mixum banned? Because people disagreed with him?

I don't think the real story ever came out? I think he said something that was in poor taste, but I'm not sure that's any worse than some of the other people in here. Like a lay off I guess? You choose that time to get rid of people you may not like?

Sounds like pussy mods got fed up with him and abused their powers.

Nope. It's a long and tawdry tale. I encourage you to search for old threads where it was discussed ad nauseum :)

You better apply this new standard to everyone dude.

You are softer than me.

I honestly try to. The way I moderate has come up before and I tried to explain things in this thread.

I'm not sure what you mean by softer. I edited one personal insult in one thread by you and defended a post you made that someone thought was a personal insult in this thread and now you're trying to make this into some pissing match between us?!? I have no problems with you dude. Don't try and create conflict where there isn't any.

This is nothing against you personally, just what you represent.

If it's just a question of potential and Lebron "potentially" being able to play QB based on his physical profile, then sure. My comments about him playing tight-end and not QB are based strictly on what would happen if Lebron actually tried to play in the NFL this year while the NBA is shut down. Playing QB takes years of repetition to learn to read coverages, how to spin the ball into tight windows, how to make progressions, how to look corners off, establishing timing with receivers, knowing how to calll out protection, etc. etc. The mental part of football would be the biggest thing for Lebron to overcome, not the physical.

Right, to suggest an immediate transition to the NFL would be ridiculous.

What I am trying to say is that imo, people as talented as Newton normally play basketball. At that height, speed, and strength I think people are more encouraged to pursue basketball. A professional basketball career pays more and is less strenuous.

most nba players would likely do well in any other sport except baseball

Would it literally not make everyone giddy like a school girl if this happened and he blew out his knee?

These players are absolute idiots. Dear Lebron........You would lose every cent of your contract.....LOL

:smiley-pat: after umpteen examples to the contrary, you still really think everyone is as petty and small minded as you? If any NBA player chooses to do something else, I wish them the best as I would anyone else who changed their career.

STOMP

The NFL does not need any more idiots in the league. Stay in the NBA, where I can continue not giving a shit about you.
