The Texas Legends (18-22), presented by Veracruz (visit Veracruz.mx), used a second half surge to defeat the Erie Bayhawks (22-19) 106-97.

The two teams battled through a close first half, with a maximum 6-point advantage by each. A thunderous third quarter, sparked by a 12-point performance by Justin Dentmon, took the Legends ahead by 9 and proved to be the beginning of the end for the Bayhawks. With 45 seconds left Erie's Nick Covington hit a 3-pointer, followed by Mustafa Shakur's back-to-back free throws to cut the lead to 7, but the Legends refused to relent.

Dentmon had a game-high 33 points and 5 rebounds, while Dwayne Jones led both teams with 18 boards. Melvin Ely proved to be a powerful force inside for the Legends, throwing down 21 points and grabbing 6 rebounds. The Legends also utilized a well-rounded game from Fred House who had 10 points, 6 rebounds, 3 assists, 4 steals and 2 blocked shots.

Covington had 26 points, 4 rebounds, and 5 assists for Erie, but Kyle Goldcamp posted the game's only double-double with 14 points and 12 rebounds on the night.

The Legends are on the road again this Thursday to battle the Springfield Armor at 6pm. Fans can catch the action live on the D-League's Youtube channel or by visiting www.texlegends.com. The next chance to see the Legends at home on Veracruz court will be Saturday, March 16 at 7pm.
