Lemieux traded

Personally I don't see this as much of a big deal either way. They are not making the playoffs this year, they have a very big logjam for the 4th line spots (the top 9 is locked in with Kravtsov up tomorrow or Tuesday), and with or without Lemieux the team needs to add some toughness and grit to the 4th line next season.

On the small plus side we now have nine picks in the 2021 draft, including six picks in the first four rounds and three picks in the fourth round. Enough ammo to add as a little sweetener in a larger deal.

Strud, that's a moronic comment. Lundkvist hasn't even played an NHL game yet. The fact you're writing off Kakko and Lafreniere at this age with a shit head coach is absurd. Chytil is still only 21. Kakko is 20. Lafreniere is 19. Kravtsov hasn't played yet in the NHL. Zibanejad didn't have his first 30 goal, 70+ point season until he was 25. Panarin wasn't in the NHL until he was 24. Kreider didn't have his first 25+ goal, 50+ point season until he was 25.

As far as Lemieux goes, he fucking sucks. He's stupid. He can't pass. He doesn't take faceoffs. He doesn't kill penalties. The Lightning's toughest player last year was Maroon and he's hardly that tough. The year before the Blues toughest player was Maroon. Maroon has been pretty lucky. Point is, the goon is a waste of time in this league come playoff time. As I said before, I have no problem getting a legit heavyweight like Lucic at half retained for a couple years to make sure the kids don't get run. Come playoff time, he's not dressing if they make the playoffs. Gorton and JD drafted a kid like Cuylle in hopes he will develop into a Wilson type down the line. A guy who can actually play. Lemieux got his chance here. For the most part, he was completely worthless. A guy like Bennett is every bit as tough as Lemieux and he's a much better player. I think the Lemieux move might be to set up a move for Bennett. Bennett much like Strome is a player I think will flourish with a change of scenery.

As far as dismissing 3rd and later draft picks, that is also absurd. I've always said past the first round their is safety in numbers with draft picks. This year they took Garand, Vierling and Berard who are all talented prospects. It would help if Canada got it's head out of it's ass and actually let the OHL play. The year before that they took Jones and Skinner. I'm pretty sure they could already use Jones in a package to get a pretty good young player back. The year before that they took Keane and Pajuniemi. Keane was used to get Gauthier who should flourish under a real coach. Pajuniemi took his game to another level. I think he's got a shot to make the NHL. Or at least be a trade piece. The year before that they took Barron who I fully expect to be a part of the team for a while. Even the year before they took Reunanen, Wall and Ronning. Wall has got lit up so far but he just came from college. Ronning somehow has had the light bulb go on and is now a PPG in 6 AHL games. Reunanen definitely can be used as a trade piece if they wish. He could play right now in the NHL over Smith who sucks. Huska is healthy this year and he might be a guy that could eventually be our backup if Georgiev is dealt and I get the feeling he might.

Sounds like Quinn may be back today, at the very least he passed COVID protocol, so if not today Tuesday. Kravtsov will also be in today or Tuesday.

Exciting time to see the kids keep growing and more added as Kravtsov up, and Barron soon to follow I think (maybe right after trade DL if not sooner).

One other angle on the Lemieux trade, is due to performance bonuses the Rangers were tight against the cap. Dealing Lemieux helps with that and gives some extra flexibility for players like Kravtsov and Barron to be up.

Excited...

No team gave two shits if Lemieux was in the lineup. I never saw him winning any fights. He would always get his ass kicked. Like dump mentioned, he wasn't good at anything. You can always find players like him if needed for the playoff run.

Totally disagree, but that’s fine.

Lemieux was a guy I had hopes for but he pretty much sucked. People are complaining about grit. Panerin has it. Lindgren has it. Lafreniere will have it. Miller will have it. Kreider has it. Gauthier will have it. Barron will have it. Schneider will have it. It’s coming it just takes time

Like I said I would love to have Blackwell and Di Giuseppe On our AHL team long-term and pay them well. Not on the big club. Bennett is a guy I wanted for two years and I still do. I think that’s gonna happen

Georgiev not playing is very telling. I don’t think they are going to go for a Eichel. I’ve been on getting Larkin forever. I think they can do it.

So mark it down - Bennett will not be here, Eichel will be here, and no shot Larkin's name ever comes up.
