With the possibility of Connor McDavid looking for to restructure his contract 8 years 13+ million...that would leave the Oilers a little handcuff with Draisaitl who is a RFA...

Thoughts on giving a contract offer?

Teams never do it these days, but I say why not. We have the cap space, still over 18 mill if Klein retires, and Draisaitl is the kind of guy you'd target if you were going to sign a RFA.

With that said I don't think it happens. My guess is Edmonton goes big for him also and then has a ton of their cap tied up in McDavid and Drais. Going to put them in a tough spot with the cap next year.
