After the win today. We played well despite being a little stupid with the penalties.

It amazes me how much more active this board is when we lose. I guess that is because the haters disappear when we win, so it is just the real honest true fans left.

I want game 6. Enough with the hard way. We have the better team. If we play like it is win or series over, we will win that game. Just need to play hard and with passion and we'll win game 6.

BTW...Mason didn't look so great today. Just have to pressure him with bodies, that is the key.

And I think we need to score a PPG as well in game 6 if we want to win it. 0-15 or something like that.

Amazes me that we are getting a lot more penalties called on us than they are. Need to be smarter. Press them and they will take dumb penalties.

I also like how calm AV is. Good presser. Takes it in stride. Doesn't rip anyone, even after that terrible whistle cost us a goal.

I noticed that also. A pleasure to listen to the coach's post game comments without having to cringe after half of them. Loved the rolling the dice gesture av made with his hands after someone asked him how he decided to use miller today.

Let's get it done Tuesday. Flyers know they are somewhat fortunate this series is still going. Buck the trend and finish them in 6. Losing a 12th playoff gm in a row after leading in a series is just unbelievable to me. We're gonna close them out Tuesday.

Ranger history says 7 games. NOW IF THEY CAN ONLY MAKE ME WRONG.

Stralman penalty was the dumbest penalty I have ever seen. One on one with the goal tender, does not score and then interferes with the golie. That is just plain stupid. I am glad he won't be back next year.

Say something positive 2009...I dare you...LOL. We are up 3-2 against a good solid team. The Flyers are not a bad team. They are trying to win also. They have 7 guys who scored 20 + goals. That is a solid team. Give them some credit rather than acting as if we are out there alone on the ice, and how can we only be up 3-2.

Say something positive 2009...come on man...:).

McDonagh needs to start shooting on the PP..too often and predictably he dishes to the wing and ends up in the goalie's chest. Send St. Louis and Nash in front more.

I have a feeling he can't shoot right now even if he wanted to.

Dont be surprised to see surgery for him as soon as the playoffs are over. Something is clearly still wrong with him.

Yeah maybe thats partly an issue, i forgot about the injury. Hopefully not they need him to provide that.

The Flyers are NOT a good team. Other than 17 minutes in game 2 and playing game 4 even, we have Dominated this series. Who cares if the Flyers had 7 20 plus goal scorers. This is the playoffs. Completely different animal. And yes, we have taken some dumb penalties but for anyone to say the officiating has not been horrendous, I will happily pay for your next eye exam.

i don't know how the puck anyone on here could say the flyers are playing well, the rangers are their own worse enemy in this series along with the refs, 1 flyer 1, verocek is the only flyer player who is a threat!

Just because we have dominated many parts of this series doesn't mean that the Flyers are not a good team. It doesn't fit the narrative that many people have about being negative about this team. The Rangers have played a good series overall but people would rather complain about them then talk about the positives.

the flyers play pitt well, they have played everybody else as an avg team, the rangers are the better team PERIOD, but they don't have killer instinct! if rangers were a true contender they win this in 4... even burnside doesn't even consider the rangers a sleeper team he believes columbus detroit and minn havin better chance then rangers..... this team can be so predicatble at times its pathetic

People don't realize how hard it is to win in the playoffs. No matter who your opponent is. Look at the west, all the top teams are having long series. People set the bar too high for this team as they are not a true contender for the cup.

The reason they are winning this series is they have a better defensemen and goaltending. The forwards are pretty much evenly matched from top to bottom.

We are better all the way around. If this was a boxing match, we would be in trouble. But you can't hit what you can't catch. We are so much faster it is ridiculous.

amen, im happy as fuck right now rangers won, lets go boys. we can still improve. one day at a time..... 1 more win for round 2. AV is doing awesome job hes better then i thought he was

So let's recap and be sure we are on the same page papa.

The Flyers stink. I guess we should have swept them. Forget the fact that they had only 2 less points than us this season despite a worse start than us. Forget the fact that they had 7 guys who scored 20 or more goals, showing the scoring depth they have. They stink, and it is a flat out joke, maybe even a disgrace, that we have gone at least 6 games with them.

On top of that, all the refs in this series are out to get us. They all favor the Flyers, and give them calls. Game after game the Flyers get the edge from the refs. Crazy how they hate us.

Got it all papa. That pretty much sums up this series I think.

You nailed it dis, some of these guys just want to complain. To say the Flyers are a solid team doesn't feed into their story that we aren't good, so of course the Flyers stinks says guys like papa and Pasta. This board is truly amazing sometimes...

Chuck, please show me the quote where I said the Flyers "stink." Since you can't even though you want to try to put words into my mouth I will "recap" what I did say. I said they Flyers are not that good. I said who cares if they had 7 guys with 20 plus goals. I said the playoffs are a different animal. I said other than 17 minutes in G2 and playing G4 even, we have dominated this series. I said we are faster than the Flyers and they can't hit what they can't catch. And I said the Refs have been horrendous.

Now, since you seem to have problems with anyone else's thoughts but yours, I will explain further for the mentally challenged. 1st of all, I am thrilled with being up 3-2 with a game on the road ( we are a great road team) and a game at home if needed. At the same time, this series should have been over in 5 games. I will give the Flyers G4, the even game. We have dominated because of speed. The Flyers are built to cheap shot teams and frustrate them. It worked in the regular season. But in a 7 game series called the Playoffs, the Rangers know the Flyers game and have not played into it. Have we taken a couple of dumb penalties, yes. But for the most part, we have played smart and fast. Have the Refs kept the Flyers in this series, ABSOLUTELY!!! The Carc penalty was one of the greatest defensive plays I have ever seen and he gets a penalty. The Hags 1st penalty yesterday was a joke. The no goal yesterday was an embarrassment, Klein gets unsportsman penalty while Simmonds is throwing punches yesterday and Simmonds get nothing. It is why the greatest sport, Hockey is held back from being popular to the masses. And as far as having 7 guys that scored 20 plus goals, Who Freakin Cares! That was the regular season. How many times do we see in all sports where a team has a great regular season but can't do Dick in the playoffs. They just aren't built for the playoffs. They are slow and their goaltending is not good enough for the playoffs.

I don't post often but I do read all the comments. I know you are good at RECAPPING everything. I stopped counting the times you start a post with the word "Again." Or "we all knew it would be 1-1 and then 2-2." No we didn't. Did history show that would happen, Yes. But they play the games for a reason. And my personal favorite, "I am confident we will win game 5 but not as confident as I was." Apparently, you don't realize how stupid that sounds. Do you even realize you say the same things over and over and over. Do you post just to post. Maybe you are lonely and need to talk to someone and posting the same thing again and again is your way of reaching the outside world.

What I do know is the next time I want you to RECAP anything I said. I'll ask. Until then, don't try to put words in my mouth!!! I will fire back!!!

Sorry...you said The Flyers are NOT a good team.

Sorry I took that to mean they stink. That changes everything...LOL. They are NOT a good team...:).

And BTW...that's your opinion...good for you. You are 100% entitled to that opinion. The fact that the Flyers finished a mere 2 points behind us over 82 games to me shows this is a close series. A lot of people picked us to win, most in 7 and a few in 6. That tells me something also. I do find it funny that people feel like we should have just rolled them in 4 or 5 games though. Like there is not another team on the ice trying to win.

And yes we have outplayed them this series, but to me that doesn't mean they are NOT a good team. That is a solid team over there that wants to win as much as we do. Show them some respect.

And one other thing papa, I actually agree with a lot of what you are saying. Where I don't agree is I think the Flyers are a solid team. Not a top level dominant team, but a solid team. That is where we disagree.

I agree this series should be over already based on the play I have seen on the ice. I would be very down if we have to go 7, and play that huge risk game where one bad bounce could send you home.

So we agree on a lot bro. I just give the Flyers more respect than you do. That is a solid team, not a great team, but a solid team.

And if we do get by them I predict right now that round 2 is a little easier for us, especially if we play Pitt.

I think you're both partly right. I think the Flyers played over their heads down the stretch of the year. I dont think they are as good as their record reflected. Maybe up front, but they have too many liabilities on the blueline and their playoff goaltending is suspect.

That said, this is (1) the playoffs and (2) an intense rivalry. Throw all that analysis shit out the window when it comes to rivalries like this. Look at all the Islander/Ranger games, Islanders could be dead last but you can be sure they'll give us a hell of a series.

Long story short, I dont think the Flyers are that good. But given that it's rivalry series in the playoffs, I am very very satisfied being up 3-2 and didnt think there was a chance in hell we would roll through them.

IF we win...Pitt or CBJ in round 2? Which team would you guys rather play?

I think I lean Pitt, despite no home ice.

Pitt. Assuming we get thru Philly and then play and beat Columbus (lot of speculation), this team will be very, very worn by the time we go into Boston. I think we finally have the scoring depth to hang with Pitt.

Although a playoff series against CBJ might wake Nash up from his nap

CBJ for 2 reasons. 1. I don't want to give Crosby and Malkin a chance to wake up. 2. Exactly what Prod just said. Nash will get his head out of his ass against CBJ. But I do believe we will beat either.

6 of 8 1st round series are going to go 6 or 7 games. The Montreal vs Tampa series probably would have too if Bishop was in net. So it didn't take a rocket scientist to predict 6 or 7 games and be right. And I agree with Prod. The Flyers played over their head in regular season. Forget they finished 2 points behind us. Means nothing now. In the games we have won, we have kicked their ass. In the games we have lost, we beat ourselves. Except for game 2 17 minutes. We played very well in that stretch.

So 6 of 8 series are going 6 or 7 games, and yet we should have whipped the Flyers in 4 or 5. Okay. Not going to get into it anymore. Is what it is. The Flyers are a decent team. We agree they are not this big time team, but they are solid, and a big rival, so I would expect a 6 or 7 game series, just like almost everyone predicted.

As for the 2nd round if we make it, I agree. I think we get through as well. I actually think either way round 2 will be a little easier than round 1 for us.

We'll see.
