For the last 2 months I have looked at every team who is suppose to be contending and looked at who is on their bench. The fact is, we signed matthews cause Cho and friends knew roy wasnt gonna be right. Thats the reason he was brought here. he just turned out better then they thought. Then the trading of webster. Teams trying to contend dont make that move. Rebuilding ones do. Since when does allen care about money??? Imagine how much webtser would help of bench? Babbit looks like the SF version of Sean Marks. Now Bayless gets dealt. That really sent up red flags. Did we really buy that they wanted to get Aarmon Johnson and Mills playing time? OMG what a disgrace. But you season ticket holders should be refunded. They suckered you into believing this was a contender yet did the opposite what contenders do. Trade the depth for garbage. Like I said thats what rebuilders do... the blazers just did it quietly. Nobody cared cause we started 4-1. They tricked the fan base, knowing Oden was in bad shape and that roy wasnt near right. Only way cho can prove this false is by making a trade that improves and frankly I cant see him doing that.

We have all been fooled by the front office. Shameful.

Now I ask.... can anyone show me a worse bench in the league then portland???
It is very tough. Im not kidding.

Cho was hired ten days after Matthews had signed his offer sheet, but I suppose it's possible everyone else knew Roy could be in for some trouble. As for the rest, I think you're giving this organization more credit than it deserves. They're too much of a bumblefuck of competing agendas to do anything so coordinated and forward thinking.

But really, you're either competing for a championship or you should be rebuilding, so what does it matter?

ok your opinion but... now find me a worse bench in the nba.

Meh, I don't care enough to spend the effort. But what can you expect with all of the injuries this team has sustained? Oden and Roy being out moves everybody else on the depth chart up one. After that Babbitt looks like a bust, Armon may or may not be ready, Patty was a sixteenth man that only made the cut because Paul Allen loves him and they moved Bayless at the 11th hour of the pre-season, Jeff Pendergraph went down, Oberto went down, Przy has struggled to stay healthy since coming back, Williams is out for the year with bum knees ... There's no magic potion to fix that much roster turmoil.

pendergraph, williams, mills still is ugly

babbit looks awful

johnson has no offense

but seriously... i cant find a worse bench in the nba. can anyone on here????

Doesn't really matter. If you find another team's bench more appealing, watch them and comment in that forum. You will find much more to discuss. Constant opinion smashing is tiresome.

Different day, same MIXUM.

Grow a thicker skin dude. Our bench does suck. You can either sit back, and keep experiencing the same problems, or you can step up and say something, and hope management gets the message when enough fans get pissed off. Watching the same train wreck happen game after game is like the movie groundhog day. If you like to watch the same train wreck happen every game, more power to you. If you want change, then speak up.

So what good does bitching and complaining about something as trivial as basketball do?

Haha.

Heaven forbid there's complaining about basketball on a BASKETBALL FORUM.

The bench is poor due to injuries and players out of position and forced to bring it por talent. If we were at full strength, our bench would be:

Godzilla- center
Camby- center
Pendy- PF
Cunningham- SF
Babbitt- SF
Matthews- SG/SF
Rudy- SG
Mills-PG
Johnson-PG

That's a decent bench. But injuries blew things up.

There may be a stupider pretext for a thread subject than this one in the board's history, and no doubt it would be started by the same poster if it does exist, but I really have no motivation to look for it. The Blazers' bench, going into this season, was supposed to include Wesley Mathews, Marcus Camby, and Joel Przybilla. Greg Oden and Brandon Roy were the projected starters. A bench made up of Joel at center, Camby at PF, Mathews at SF, Rudy at SG, and Mills at PG would be one of the better ones in the league. Injuries to key starters suck...as does this thread.

Sorry, but that argument is only valid if you assume that the Blazers couldn't possibly have known that Roy and Oden were hurt. If they knew - or should have known - then they are responsible. That's their bloody job, and they get paid rather well to do it.

What does religion have to do with it? Inflammatory complaining to elicit a reaction on a forum is generally known as trolling. Instead of defending it, you should do something about it.

Oden's most recent cartilage issues didn't arise until November, well after the season started. Or are you really of the opinion that both the Blazers and Oden's people knew he had a hole in the cartilage in his other knee and decided to scam the fans? As far as Roy goes, I suspect that the Blazers have known for some time that his knees aren't going to make for a long career and that the signing of Mathews was seen as good insurance, but I also think it was a direct response to the poor showing that Rudy had in last year's playoffs coupled with the opportunity to stick it to a division rival. But from interviews with Roy, Nate, Cho, Jay Jensen, and others on the team, it's perfectly clear that the degree of decline in Roy's health has come as a shock to the team. Finally, do you really think that if the team knew that both Greg and Roy were going to be out all season that they wouldn't have made some other moves in the off-season to bolster the roster? Believe it or not, these guys want to win.

Well, that's sort of the point of the entire thread.

No, I don't believe winning is all that important to the Vulcans. Exhibit "A": the GM situation. I am not the biggest KP fan around, but this whole thing was just silly. There is zero evidence that Cho is better than KP, he is less experienced, and the chaos that surrounded the process was itself a major impediment to making moves. The situation was always going to be bad....but it didn't have to be *this* bad.

No. The Thunder aren't competing for the championship this year. Should they trade Durant and rebuild? Same with the Jazz. Should they trade Williams and Jefferson for picks and rebuild?

Oh and I find it funny that no one was able to answer MIXUM's question.

I don't see any inflammatory complaining. I don't see anything that's done to elicit a response.

If you don't like a thread, don't participate. It's pretty straightforward.

Come on, Ed, be real. I couldn't care less whether MIXUM posts or not, but at least be honest enough to admit that he's a shit kicker.

Honesty has nothing to do with anything. It's a matter of opinion, and I look at this thread as perfectly legit.

The Blazers bench is terrible. I don't know of a bench in the NBA that is worse right now.

I don't think that the front office knew that Oden or Roy would be out all year, and I don't think they knew Joel would be out as long as he has been (after injuring his ankle).

Did they know about Williams's injury? Maybe.

Without those injuries, the bench isn't bad.

I can disagree with MIXUM without getting upset. Just because others cannot doesn't mean that it's MIXUM's fault.

Ed O.

The topic of how bad the Blazers' bench is certainly is a legitimate topic. The way he presents it is, in my estimation, inflammatory and his intent is to rile people up rather than discuss. This thread, while relatively mild compared to some, is written in his usual style. It's the pattern over all of MIXUM's threads that is of concern. You, and apparently the other mods, seem to have similar opinions on his posting here, but it doesn't mean that they're the only valid ones. As I said, I don't give a rip whether you let him continue to post or not, but it would seem from the comments that I read here on a nearly daily basis that many others disagree.

I have better things to do on New Years Eve than sit and type about MIXUM, and I hope you do as well. Happy New Year.

OMG what a disgrace.

bumblefuck

I don't know which theory is true, the "OMG what a disgrace" theory or the "bumblefuck" theory. I do know that management should have seen this coming and been prepared. But knowing how they function, I'm not sure they deserve the praise for which Mixum credits them. If they were living within the mental helmet of the "Blazers have a golden future" religion of rapture, they may well have been totally ignorant of the deterioration in Roy's knees.

The bench absolutely does suck, no question. The purpose/intent of the OP's post is completely ignored and that is what is wrong.

Lame attempt to ignore all past behavior from MIXUM and then act as if it is the fault of the other 99.9% of posters.

There is no problem with this thread, IN ISOLATION.

Do you want to argue that he hasn't started the same topic over, and over and over, just to elicit a response? Good luck with that one.

Well, point out threads that there are problems with when they happen. A series of legitimate threads do not become illegitimate because of their number.

Do you want to argue that he hasn't started the same topic over, and over and over, just to elicit a response? Good luck with that one.

I don't need to argue it. I give people the benefit of the doubt, and I see MIXUM contributing links and opinions... I have seen it for YEARS. I think that it'd be very difficult for anyone to convince me that he's had an elaborate, nearly decade-long joke going on a few Blazers posters.

In terms of being redundant... that's unavoidable. I don't know how people can expect to have someone NOT post a strong opinion that they hold... and since we've got at least 82 times a year to get new data, there are lots of opportunities to say things, and it's natural that sometimes those things are the same.

Ed O.
