You know.....Travis is the antithesis of every thing the Blazers are trying to do. He doesn't play team ball. He's become the new Z-Bo. The new black hole. I will admit, sometimes it works for him, but sometimes it doesn't. There are times he has made HUGE shots. We all know that. But long term? LONG TERM? No. To win it all, as we have learned from every team that has done so over the course of our life times, takes ball movement and defense (fundamentally). Neither of which Travis is good at.

Travis is a liability when you talk Championship.

Very true. You can't argue that. But when it comes to Travis, you have to be able to identify when it's time to cut your losses.

Outlaw is a bench player. The reason he doesn't start is because he's not a good passer or decision-maker. He's a gunner, and a pretty useful reserve.

Zach Randolph would make a great reserve, but he'd never accept that role. Outlaw will.

I see what you're saying, but when Outlaw is in the game, he might as well be Z-Bo. He takes ridiculous shots, and rarely passes. When he's in the game, and not making shots (which is all he really does), it's a detriment to the team.

Really, the only difference in my mind between Z-Bo and Travis is that one is a starter and one comes off the bench.

I will admit, however, that Z-Bo was more detrimental because he was, for a period of time, our "go to guy."

Travis has never been, and never will be, our "go to guy."

Who's roster spot has he taken? I know you haven't spent any money on him, so that can't seriously be the issue. It's not like his salary has prevented us from signing someone else.

He won us some games this year, and has been horrible in the playoffs.

I'm not sure who you're directing you comments at, but those bold words are kind of the point of this thread.

Well if we are only judging players by 6 games, then maybe we should gut this team. The playoffs are a whole different animal, so I don't care how many years you've been in the league, there is a whole new learning curve in the playoffs. All these guys were basically rookies to the playoffs.

Well unfortunately (or fortunately, depending on how you look at it), with the imminent logjam coming at SF, I'm pretty sure Outlaw is by far the most likely to be traded. Webster is a solid all-around team player, and Batum has WAY too much upside and potential to be let go. Plus I think Outlaw did himself no favors with his performance in the playoffs.

It'd be kind of sad to see Travis go; he's grown so much, he's a goofy guy and fun to be around, and he's had some outstanding moments here in Portland. But I really don't see any other options at this point. I think tonight was the last game that Travis will ever play in a Blazers jersey.

Yeah, just a shame we didn't get to see Martell and how he would've fit in with this group. It's tough to have to wait another season to see what his contributions would be like. I think he would've added a good scoring dimension to our starting lineup that Nicolas couldn't bring, which would've left Rudy in the second unit where he is best.
