Let's talk Aminu

Literally the same thing my ex wife would say when she was wrong.
Not going to argue with you about your meaning and the context of the conversation you decided to comment on. Pippen was a great player. Trying to compare him to Aminu is ridiculous.

Fact is if you decided to shut down Jordan which was nearly impossible and let Pippen shoot all night the way teams do the Blazers with Dame CJ and Amina? Pippen goes for 40 or maybe even 50. That is fact. Defense or no.

And by the way it is literally my wife that can’t stay of a fucking topic and gets mad when I try to straighten her the fuck up.

The entire conversation has been about his offense so there is that I guess.

and has shown effective defense in those 2 games

A fine defender

Taller defenders who can't score are worthless

He's a great modern stretch four and our most versatile defender.

Let's see: which of our starters is in the negative and can't defend against anybody? Give you a clue: he's a forward and he's not called Aminu.

Aminu is one of our very best players on both sides of the court and he consistently ups his game in playoffs. He’s also mostly clutch in the regular season.

There isn't a single player who thinks "oh no! i have to play with Aminu defending me!" - nobody cares if Aminu is defending them. But because "he plays hard"

Then there are a few tidbits from you. Great takes btw.

C'mon.... Aminu is an active defender who plays hard. He comes up with some great defensive plays.

Aminu on defense has not been bad because he always works hard

Again i will say WHATEVER?
Your take on this is however you want to take it. Everyone agrees he plays good defense at times.
But i'm not going to try to figure out your take on a comment comparing him to a Hall of Fame player that was the second best player on a team that won multiple championships. You are the one that brought up Scottie Pippen. Not only was Scottie Pippen's defense better but you can't even compare him on the offensive end of the court. We are talking Scottie Pippen here. I watched the dude play his entire career. You cannot compare the two is all i am saying.

The thread is about Aminu. Can't talk about him without bringing up defense. Even you can't as evidenced above.

I really wish you would've just understood what I was talking about instead of doubling down on being wrong about the thread topic.

Now, who's gonna guard the most talented offensive player if Aminu is gone?

It's a simple question.

You're having an issue.

I'm not comparing Pippen to Aminu.

Stop insulting my intelligence.

Just like I said and you don't seem to either be listening or reading well is,

I'm comparing their DEFENSIVE ROLES. Got it now???

On a contending team Aminu is coming off the bench.

On a contending team, Aminu isn't on the roster

He's been utterly awful these past three games or so. I've quickly gotten very tired of him.

Nothing has really changed since he came here. He gets wide-open '3's for a reason and every once in a while hits a few to keep his average up. But you wouldn't teach that shot to your worst enemy's kid....and I don't see his form changing anytime soon.

At least one of those spots. We could get away with one player in the starting unit who is "offensively challenged", but not two.

The rules of the NBA favor the offense. You need lot of scorers to win. Taller defenders who can't score are worthless because the rules keep them from defending as well.
@dviss1 this is just the first page of this thread.

I mean exactly who is it that isn't reading well? Honestly?

It's a simple question.
Now that is the $64 question now isn't it. There are other quotes in the thread that are bringing up the trade deadline.

One thing i think that might be getting in the way here? Was this thread "Merged"? I actually don't even recall a lot of the conversation on this that has gone on here?

And @kjironman1

Can you just answer the question????

Who's gonna guard the most talented offensive player of Aminu is gone??

I'm tired of this shit man... You're wrong. You said the

"ENTIRE thread"

was about his offense.

Just own being wrong. It's not hard.
Own being wrong when you brought up Pippen? WTF man? Get outta here. Like i already did. just the first page has multiple topics about his offense and that is just one page. Then you jump in here and bring up Scottie Pippen and think someone ain't gonna call yer shit? Plaese....See ya. Yeah i'm tired of this shit too.

Fuck it man. I'm done with you. Forget it.

You didn't read, listen, or absorb a word that I said and never cared to answer my question.

Jesus, no one was comparing Aminu to one of the 50 greatest players.

This whole conversation with you is just dumb..

READ MY FUCKING POST!!!

Every team needs that one player they can deploy on defense a la Scottie Pippen.

Take away Aminu and who becomes that player for us?

Harkless? Turner?

Who would like to answer this simple, straightforward question, while also knowing I am in no way comparing Aminu to Pippen?

Have a good day dviss1. The kid is playing in Beaverton this weekend. Figure eventually i'll get to shake your hand when you are an official. Thanks for taking care of the kids.

I'll admit, when I go round and round, and it's obvious I'm not being listened to or someone didn't read what I wrote, it gets frustrating... My bad.

But I never once compared Aminu to Pippen and you should've known that I was comparing their defensive roles. I said this multiple times and I wasn't listened to.

Nobody anywhere said they “Hate” Aminu. Certainly not I. Dude gives everything every game and for that alone deserves nothing but respect. It’s his offense that has people feeling he should not be a starter on a contender. That is all.
Did you miss the “Aminu sucks” in a post on this thread?

In 2017 playoffs, Kerr said his defensive strategy was to stop the non-stars like Aminu.

I happen to not agree at all with that statement. It certainly isn't something i would post. Somebody saying "He Sucks" i would think is talking about his ability and not "Hate" of the man himself. I am not a fan of the player on the team the way he is being used. But in no way do i think anyone on here actually hates Aminu. Hate gets thrown around a little too easily these days.

I havent read all these posts but I think theyd have to hope that Harkless is healthy, and has no lingering problems. He’s the only guy besides Aminu I think who “could” do it.

No question his defense deserves recognition. He always draws the toughest assignment. So that alone should speak volumes.
It doesn't say anything about Aminu, but says everything about our roster. Across the league the most talented players on any given team are generally swings/wings. With Harkless out, Aminu is the only player who we could conceivably put on the other team's best player. It's not because Aminu is a great defender, it's because the only other guy who could theoretically match up with them is JAKE LAYMAN. Aminu is a versatile, but average, defender. There isn't a player in the league who is concerned about being defended by him.

He's shooting like Andre Roberson.

It doesn't help that he's also getting absolutely torched lately as well.

Aminu is by far the most underrated player on the Blazers. He's our second best defender and, yes, our 3rd best player. Losing him would be a big mistake. Almost as big a mistake as it was to acquire Evan "Turner's Turn" Turner . "Turner's Turn" refers to the times that ET routinely decides it's simply his turn to shoot this time down the floor.

Aminu is beyond trash. Thank god his contract ends this year
