I think you can still get DeAndre without trading Aldridge.

I think Indiana will never trade Hibbert, IMO.

Totally on Jordan. Trading Aldridge and us being able to get him are unrelated

Indiana has some players to lock up soon, If they struggle in the playoffs, they might deal Hibbert.

I just think they trade Granger before they trade Hibbert. Granger will have some good value and they can find some other pieces to really get shit done.

My bad. He's playing for the Thunder now.

Word was that it was almost done but the Thunder didn't want to give up another first rounder. They have a really bad contract in Frye they would be loving to get rid of and they aren't goo goo for Gortat like they should. Also, they will own two first rounders if the Lakers fail to make the playoffs and be sitting high on draft night with their own pick. There are many big men in this draft. Maybe not stars, but competent players.

If you look at the entire future of Phoenix, trading Gortat wouldn't be as bad for them if they can get another first rounder (12,13), cap space (Portland could trade their pick only and give them a 8 million TE) and they can start their rebuild quickly.

I think anyone could be had. I don't think they (teams) are going to give away a C to anyone.

natebishop had it right, IMO. You're going to get nothing (likely) for JJ, but you could get a really sweet deal for LMA and you'd have a pretty good player in JJ to play at PF.

In fact, I think it's a pretty good rule that if you have two capable players at a position, you trade the better of the two. Because you'll get more in return.

And Phoenix doesn't get cap space in that deal. They'd have taken on Perkins' longer and bigger contract.

But that's my point. We can give them a better deal. They wanted Lamb and a first rounder to go along with Perkins. OKC didn't want to give up another first rounder. We could give them our #11, #12 pick and cap space. Our deal is better.

What C's have been given away is the better question.

Given away? Don't understand what you think of Gortat. He isn't Shaq or Noah. He is an above average center. Nothing extremely special, but is a good compliment for Aldridge.

They didn't make that trade, now did they. It was a rumor.

Not talking about that rumor, talking about the Blazers using their pick and cap space in an attempt to land a C. Nobody is thinking teams are lined up to just give us a C for nothing as you stated. But players are traded all the time, and a lotto pick and our cap space is hardly asking someone to just give someone away.

Especially when that player is averaging 11/8.5/1.5 for the season. Denny thinks Gortat is Noah caliber.

Regardless of caliber, players are traded. We don't necessarily have to go out and grab a great starter right now. Always the option to identify current backups that could be solid starters, the way Asik, Gortat and others were.

Storyteller's site says Phoenix has $42M committed for 12 players. So they get this cap space and do what with it, exactly?

Asik wasn't traded. You might look at how he was acquired by Houston and look for a similar scenario.

I understand he wasn't traded to Houston. Was just listing another option of how to find a C.
I don't know what Phoenix does with their cap space. I don't care. And I'm not saying just for Gortat.

If it were up to me, I'd go balls out for Dwight Howard. Why not go for the best? If he won't re-sign with the Lakers (he shouldn't), then the Lakers at least might facilitate a sign and trade. If they can under the CBA, I haven't looked at that.

How many players average 11/8.5/1.5?

A ton of players. Howard, Asik, Vucevic, Lee, Horford, Noah, Chandler, Cousins, Duncan, Sanders, Aldridge, Ibaka, DeAndre Jordan, Durant, Bosh, Koufus.

Do you want me to name more?

I really wouldn't be surprised to hear that Olshey is going to do exactly that.

You only named one - Howard.

Asik was 10.2/11.9/1.1 - he didn't meet two of the three stats.
Same is true for the others.

Josh Smith and Hibbert are the only other two that I can see.

Well, duh :)

What you'd give the Lakers is a trade exception.

The TPE wouldn't be enough. He makes over 20 mil per year and we only have like 13 million in cap space. I would rather offer them Matthews and Batum for Howard and then use our cap space/draft pick to fill the holes.

Lillard/Maynor
Redick?/Barton
Claver/draft pick?
Aldridge/Freeland
Howard/Leonard

Denny, Gortat is 29. I think the motivation for Phoenix would be to get younger
