Hello [insert name],

Now that the NBA Lottery has been completed, I just wanted to take a
moment and give you an update on what our Number 10 selection means for
the team.

As I have stated often since the conclusion of the recent campaign, our
team is looking for size, athleticism, shooting and the ability to
protect the rim. This draft seems deep at the power forward and center
positions, so we are in a good position to help ourselves in the areas
that we have targeted.

Given that we have two first round selections as well as a second round
pick, if something presented itself that we felt could really help us,
then we might look to move either one or both of our picks. But right
now, it appears that we'll stay with at least the 10th pick and probably
the 21st as well. That being said, I think that teams are probably a
little more apt to do something if they have multiple picks, because
those picks provide a certain amount of leverage when discussing player
movement.

Over the course of the next several weeks, the Nets basketball staff
will be holding workout sessions with select players as well as working
the phones in order to elevate the Nets back to a contending position in
the Eastern Conference. As always, we appreciate your support of Nets
Basketball. All of us at the Nets will be working hard during the off
season to make sure your team is in a winning position next season.

Sincerely,

So they are moving the picks, and keeping them, and drafting a big man, and a shooter, and a defender, and a shot blocker. Thanks, Rod.

At least now I can sign all my posts "Rod Thorn" like Petey

Wow. This puzzled me a bit. Does he think we won't be keeping Krstic?

Haha, covering his bases, throwing the other team's off.......Carmelo!!!

Draft picks play for cheap salaries for a few years.

On the other hand, the Nets do have some LT flexibility to land a player with a decent sized contract.

I'll translate: The Nets are going to do everything possible to make the team competitive again so please by tickets.

Other than that he's not saying anything... as he shouldn't.

wtf every single year, we look for the same thing, i meen isnt sean supposed b the young prospect that could protect the rim??

Yea and before you know it, there will be a need at the 2-3 spots. Just smokescreen to the obvious. Thorn has a lot of pieces to work with, I'm pretty sure he's more excited this offseason than the past few. There are so many different parts with different values....and he isn't even sniffing the lux tax yet.
