Blazers have 17 games to go in Lillard's 6th season. Here are some of his career stats:
10,433 Points
2,820 Assists

To get to 11,000 points by end of season, he needs to average 33.4 PPG
To get to 3,000 assists by end of season, he needs to average 10.6 APG

These seem unlikely, but I was wondering if any could tell me how to do a basketball-reference (or other)
search to find out how many players in the past 30 years have achieved
10,500 Points
2,800 Assists
by the end of their 6th year?

How to do this search:

Go to Play Index and select Player Season Finder, then click on "Combined Seasons", set the year of player's career to First thru 6th, set your PTS and AST values, and hit GET RESULTS.

Here's that search with slightly lowered points to show where Dame is so far...

Fun facts:

Dame has the fewest turnovers, fewest personal fouls, and has shot the fewest FT's, though he has the best FT% of them. He's made this landmark combo of stats in the fewest minutes, on the fewest shots (not surprising given the three-point shot in the 2010's).

Dame is not least among these giants.

Also Dame only player in the top 5 to start every game he has played in. What 1 game did LeBron not start?
Same thing caught my eye

James was expected to play, and it was assumed he would start.

However, the game began with Cleveland’s megastar on the bench in his white-and-wine warmups. It was the first time he had not started in 333 career regular-season games as a pro, and it may have been one of the only times in his life that he wasn’t on the court for the opening tip.

He didn’t seem to mind, and during a late timeout he did the popular “Soulja Boy” dance to the delight of the crowd.

James checked in with 5:59 left in the first quarter and the Cavs leading 15-11. He entered with Hughes and forward Anderson Varejao, who was making his season debut after ending a contract holdout last week by signing a three-year, $17 million contract.

James said he requested that coach Mike Brown bring him in off the bench to offset any negative reaction toward Varejao, who during messy on-and-off negotiations said he didn’t want to play for Cleveland again.

“I thought it would raise the intensity of the fans, having me, Larry and Andy come in at the same time — and it worked,” James said. “I thought by coming in with Andy it might stop some of the boos Andy might get, just protecting my teammates.”

The 12-year veteran has started 881 of his 882 games in the pros. The only time he's come off the bench was Dec. 11, 2007, in a home win against the Indiana Pacers, making his return to the lineup after missing five straight games because of a sprained left index finger.

That is quite a list to be a part of for sure. Props to him. Side note.....when do you think The Big O Oscar Robertson will make it into the Hall of Fame? I mean the only think holding him out is all those TRIPLE DOUBLES he got right?

I predict he will be enshrined in 1980. But, it's called the Hall of Fame, not the Hall of Winning. All of those triple doubles never helped his team win a championship. The year he won a ring was with Kareem. Oscar averaged 19.4/5.7/8.2 that year, far removed from his individual glory days of 30.8/12.5/11.4. In the first six years of his career, when he was putting up those gaudy numbers, his team only advanced to the playoffs twice, never even making the finals, let alone winning.

It's possible for someone to be a great player, but someone else to be even greater. That's my take on Lillard and Westbrook. When all is said and done, Westbrook will have the more gaudy stats, but Lillard will be regarded as the better player.

Cute post. The only part I liked though was the end. It will be interesting to see after they are retired where they stand vs each other. Some might put Russ ahead because he got to a FINALS. I am of the mind that he had more talent around him is why. But I am one of the few who don’t use rings as a way to judge a players greatness or not. Stockton and Barkley don’t have any, but Adam Morrison does.

We will RIOT when he's (a) not unanimously voted into the HoF and (b) he's not a first ballot HOFer.

Well, rings are all relative. Bill Russell's rings are impressive, as are Michael Jordan's, etc., because they led their teams to those rings. Morrison didn't lead the Lakers to anything. He was just along for the ride.

But yes, Westbrook has definitely had better teammates. He had Durant and Harden and ended up running Durant out of town with his selfish hero ball. Now he has Paul George and Carmelo Anthony. You were telling us for months that they would "figure it out" that they had too much talent not to be a great team. Well, here they are 67 games into the season and they still haven't figured that out. They were picked by everyone, you included, to win the NW Division and be no lower than a 3rd seed in the West. They are currently 3rd in the NW and 7th in the West. They have greatly unperformed relative to expectations. Shouldn't part of that be attributed to their best player and his lack of leadership?

I just can’t blame the star of a team who goes out there and plays like a warrior every single play of every single game. Team chem is a fickle thing right? Maybe they click in the playoffs, who knows, maybe they don’t and it was a failed experiment. I can’t blame The Big O for not winning championships when he put up those historic numbers...... they didn’t NOT win because of him. There aren’t too many players I’d rather have the ball in thier hands with a tied game than Russ to be honest. Dame is one as well. Sorry man, we will have to disagree on this til the end of time...... or until you get banned form here.

You can't say he plays like a warrior every play of the game when 75% of the time on D his man shoots an unguarded shot b/c Russ is board-chasin'. A warrior every play would be playing Ime Udoka D. Not Ike Diogu D.

Love Ime, and I know what your saying, but I’ll take Russ’ style all day every day.

And you guys remember how much I hate him in real life right? Thats how much I love him on the court.
