so I was just listening to th grantland Jalen and Jacoby podcast where the two of them plus Simmons are discussing bball. First brought up by Jacoby at the 1h 15m mark they start talking finals picks. Jalen goes with Spurs/Bulls and then Jacoby said "and this is with my heart, not so much my head cause I love this team this year, Portland Trailblazers." And Bulls.

Then they move into a talk about Lillard. Jalen says "Damian Lillard deserves to be a allstar in the tough western conference".

Bill Simmons " Damian Lillard, Steph Curry with worse PR". Then they says they have had more curry conversations that perhaps they should have, and not enough Lillard conversations.

Then Jalen says that when we talk about athletic PG's, people talk about Wesbrook and Rose, but two athletic PG's who get overlooked are Wall and Lillard. (About Lillard) "normally the guys who dribble behind their backs and make 30 foot threes, can't go to the basket and jam with two hands" said Jalen.

Then the conversation pivots to Wall.

Lillard is Curry, only with better win share after last night

Curry has been a thing since college, Dame had to play catch up

Curry is having an amazing season this year. He's among the top 3-5 in numerous statistical categories, offense and defense and the advanced stats, too. It doesn't hurt that his team is 27-5, either. It's not like he hasn't earned his accolades, IMO.

Damn Straight. Exactly why Lillard is the biggest bad a$$ of them all.

Imagine where he'd be if he weren't shooting a career low in 3P %

I thought it was a typo. I thought the tread title was supposed to be: Lillard - Curry with Worse PER.

Curry is 3rd in the league with PER = 26.9. Lillard is 10th at PER = 23.4.

BNM

Lillard really needs to work on his floater or something - He's only 24.5% from 3-10 feet, otherwise PER would be closer.

Lillard has great PR and is a way better Ambassador to the league.

Its big market/small market.

Lillard has played 3 more games than Curry, and they're tied in WS on the season. Lillard .237 WS/48 while Curry averages .281 WS/48.

Curry is a little better at everything, and does so in fewer minutes per game. And he certainly has better PR, though Lillard has done fine for himself.

Coming in here and stomping on our parade with facts. How dare you!

these two are going to be the next Reggie and Ray Allen. Sure one is better then the other but you wouldn't care who you had on your team as long as you had one of them.

I think it was just an outstanding compliment to say Lillard is Curry with worse PR. Curry is one of the top MVP candidates this season and a top five player in the NBA. He has the edge on Lillard, but in his third year to be,thought of as belonging on this list is just awesome. Same for Anthony Davis, he and Lillard have risen to the top eschelon of the NBA many years before entering their prime. These two players will one day be the best in the NBA if they continue their growth and stay healthy.

I don't think you will get a lot of opposition about Curry being the better player right now. He's even more clutch, if you can actually believe that.

What I can tell you is that Dame at year 3 is much much better than Curry at year 3. I think there will be a time where Dame is actually better than Curry because he has that "killer drive" to always be the best in the league. The same drive that drove Jordan and Kobe. I hate mentioning Kobe, but the dude kept getting better each year until the last 3 seasons... That's pretty insane!

What's funny about that draft class was it was considered mediocre by many draft experts, claiming only AD being the franchise player.

Look at the players that came out of it!!!

AD, MKG, Beal, Waiters, Lillard, Ross, Drummond, Barnes, Jones, and Draymond Green. That's a solid group of players!

It feels like Curry carries his team more, so I looked up per-36 minute FG shooting. Curry's not as far ahead as I thought.

Lillard shoots 7.5-16.3, with 6.4 assists.
Curry shoots 8.8-17.9, with 8.4 assists.

Huh? It was widely considered, in advance, to be the strongest draft in several years.

Thats the thing for me. Curry is pretty complete with his game right now. Im not sure he has a lot more to add, improve but not really add. Dame on the other hand by simply adding a floater can drastically change his game. His defense will get better. I think he will push for an all defense team or two simply because of all the crap that he got about to prove a point. I could even see Dame working on a post game at some point. He still has more room than you would think to grow. How great is that???

This one area I think Curry will always be better and part of that may be because we need Lillard scoring more. I dont think he would be quite as effective overall if he averaged 10 assists a game. BUT he is Dame and it wouldnt shock me at all to see him do it at some point and still be every bit as effective. Please, someone tell him he CANT do it

No it wasn't. It was said that AD would be the only franchise player, then the rest would be solid rotation players.
