Lillard cut from Team USA

I have since edited what I originally posted but I would like to apologize that original post. I meant it only as a joke, just a play off of a movie quote but I now understand that what I posted was hurtful and degrading.

I am sincerely sorry.

What's wrong with being hurtful and degrading? You got something against hurtful and degrading? My father would have told you to stand up like a man. What did you say? "Frankly, HCP, I don't give a damn." Nobody cares any more about the word "damn." Get with the times.

Parsons and Korver didn't make it? They seemed to play a lot. Cousins, Drummond, and Plumlee made it? This went against conventional wisdom (predictions of recent days).

The fact that Parsons didn't make it (and that Drummond, Cousins and DeRozan did) is more surprising.

All of this is pretty irrelevant: you could pick the select team and it would probably make the final.

I'm pretty happy with this. Now I can root against team USA with zero qualms.

[Edit: I wonder of Parsons not making it had something to do with Mark Cuban?]

One thing: Golden State is seriously vying with Houston for "most hated team" status.

Are you reading this, Damian? I didn't know that DeRozan's better than you. Hmm. How about that.

I'd rather have him resting for the season than playing USA basketball.

Plumlee made the team and Lillard (and Parson's) didn't?

What the fuck Team USA?

And, they went with 3 Centers - Davis, Cousins and Drummond - none of whom can hit the 3 ball (international style). Are they really all going to get steady minutes? Very doubtful.

I'm with you on this! Rest + Dame maybe feeling a bit slighted = hello regular season, have you met Dame?

Something tells me there was a hush hush that Plumlee was told he was going to make the team weeks ago. My source? My conspiracy theory angle!

This team is a joke though. Not much reason to root for them.

Had there ever been a player who made an All NBA team the year before that didn't make the US team because they were cut not because they pulled out? I cant think of one, Dame may be the first.

Funny how the two point guards each have a coach on the staff, eh?

I'm fairly confident that Dame will be better than Steph Curry in a few years.

This is team USA letting me go. My head up, spirits up, and I'm going back to work. #TeamAdidas #JustGetBetter #WoodOnTheFire

Can't really argue against any of the guys over Lillard

Closest guy is Rose, but you either get like 6 minutes of Rose or 6 minutes of Lillard. At that point who gives a shit, so go with Rose because he has the potential to give you more.

The roster overall is certainly not as good as years past.

That picture is so fucking awesome!

They should just send the college players to FIBA events. NBA guys can do the Olympics.

The problem is the college talent pool is not like it used to be. The good players leave early. The ones remaining would get their asses kicked by the international pros.

Well I id say both centers were locks to make the team. But both of them and Plumlee? Did not see that coming.

Isn't DeRozan the most surprising inclusion? I didn't see that coming at all.

I agree. Lillard sucks and Rose/Irving are much better players.

Rose would presumably have knocked Damian off the all-NBA lists if he were healthy, so it makes sense he'd knock him off Team USA.

That's kind of a silly statement. He won't be a better shooter, that's for sure, and he probably won't be a better passer. He already is better in the fourth quarter. Neither of them will ever be great on D.

Damian's best comparison is still Chauncey Billups. Billups never wowed anyone and never stood out on all-star squads, but wasn't called Mr. Big Shot for nothing.

Steph owned Lillard last year. It was kind of ugly.

Didn't Lillard beat Curry's rookie 3pt record?

All I know is that by getting cut from Team USA Lillard has really hurt his trade value.

Conley never got cut from Team USA.

Dame is a mix of Billups and Marbury (skillset, not mindset lol)

Worth noting: Team USA has 2 Sacramento Kings, 2 GS Warriors and zero Spurs, Thunder(s?) or Blazers.

I seem to forget all the Dunk Contests that Billups participated in.
