also your >= 19 PPG would cut out chris paul anyway, who happens to lead all PG in both ORtg & PER. PGs who create so much for their teammates shouldn't be judged on scoring.

My bad but your last sentence is exactly my point. How are they determined to be all-star worthy and by who? He wont be voted in as a starter which means the coaches will vote him in if he made it. Then it might come down to what that individual coach values. Who will that coach be? Lionel Hollins, Scott Brooks or Pop?

the only time an individual determines an AS player is when Stern names injury replacements.

It's a bit scary on the similarities between Roy and Lillard.

They were both 6th picks and weren't high standouts coming into the draft. They came to PDX with a PF that was the Chief; but just didn't have the leadership skills to carry the team. They both had a promising big man that followed them in the same draft. They are both playmakers and won the first rookie of the month award. And they both use the first half to establish their game and usually do well in the third and 4th quarters.

I think both will hold true. Roy had injury issues since college. I think he even had surgery his sophmore year. Then Roy had an early injury at the beginning of the season his rookie year (bone spur on his hell I think). Knocking on wood; it seems Lillard looks very durable.

As for the "success"; well I think he has the same winning mentality and mental toughness. The difference is Lillard doesn't need to ISO in order to be effective like Roy needed. It seems Lillard is a better suit for a "team philosophy".

Both remain to be seen; since Roy has received ROY awards and a three time allstar. Until Lillard can do that and make the playoffs; will be the break even point. If Lillard can manage to lead us out of the first round will determin is he was more valuable.

Roy’s menisci have been a chronic issue. He had surgery to repair the meniscus in his left knee 2001, as a junior at Garfield High. He tore the meniscus in his right knee in 2004, surgery to repair it cost Roy most of his junior season with Washington. Roy’s left knee meniscus got another repair in 2008, just before his third season with Portland. Then, during last season’s playoffs, it was his right knee’s turn for a second surgery.

That article's from Nov 2010. Notice that Roy had surgery in the 3rd year of high school, 3rd year of college, and 3rd year of the pros?
