Every Monday for the last five Mondays, Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard has released a new track on his Soundcloud page. He made it sixth-straight today, putting the track “I Wish I Could Tell You,” which was originally recorded by his cousin and fellow rapper Brookfield Duece, who also performs on Lillard’s version. Give it a listen …
Some sample lyrics …
I’ve got so many things going on in my life
I’m so far removed from that anger and that ‘trife
If they want to take a shot they can aim it at the lights
Cause your boy shining hard, yeah this flavor come with spice
I’m playing in the League but I’m living by the code
It’s best to keep the stuff they want to know behind the doors
There’s a lot of stuff I know, I don’t say it in my flows
Cause the ones I really love, it’s a chance they get exposed
According to Lillard, this is the last time he’ll release any music this summer until his EP, which I hear will be almost entirely original beats rather than rapping over existing tracks, comes out some time in the next month or so. Lillard already has Ice Cube’s seal of approval, so it should be worth checking out when it drops.
You can check out Lillard’s previous Music Monday releases on his Soundcloud page which are: “Soldier In The Game,” “Full Stomach,” “Why?” “Free Bands” and “The Villains.”
