What if we take out the Spurs in the first round. Yeah, I know it ain't going to happen. But just imagine the look on that bastard's "All Star" face as he looks around the Spurs arena and has to explain in interview after interview why he left Portland to put up 13/7 in a colossal first round implosion.

Imagine the look on all those coaches faces who didn't vote Lillard in. Dame wouldn't miss another All Star game for 10 years.
 
Can't argue with anyone picked ahead of Dame. The Warriors got three guys in because they are a great team. LA got in because of his team's record as well. The top teams usually get a token all-star appearance or two. Remember when the Blazers were great? Drexler, Porter, and KEVIN DUCKWORTH (twice) got in. No doubt the years Duck got picked there was probably someone like Dame who was more deserving that got snubbed.

No. Duck got in because there were no more deserving centers. You couldn't randomly replace a center with an SF back then.

The old ways seem better. I keep thinking about football. Can you imagine if in the Pro Bowl they started 4 quarterbacks and 5 running backs, and said we don't need any offensive lineman on the team? Ditto with baseball.

I am disappointed of the NBA Dame should have made it this year. I am glade that Dame already said if he not selected he will turn down other events going on at all-star week that he is planning to rest. That sucks for the NBA because Dame is pretty big name outside this league from commercial to shoes endorsement and of course his music. Take a well deserve rest Dame and come back smoking after the break.
 
The NBA just needs to continue expansion. It'd fix a lot of things. In 30-40 years I hope we have 40 Teams with 10 team divisions, 23 teams making the playoffs. Make 4 All-Star teams and have a two day tournament, and the division that wins gets their division winner a two round bye (7 other teams get one).

Picking from 10 teams instead of 15 would make it so there would be no big snubs without watering it down too much. And there would be 3 games that meant something instead of 1 that didn't. It'd also turn it into a 4 day event instead of 3.

We're not too far from the #7 seed. Dallas has the look of a team that will slip. Whoa. Talk about dream scenario
 
Dream scenario? I'm not sure getting swept by the Spurs is a dream scenario.

As for the motivation factor people seem to talk about, he felt snubbed last year, and didn't exactly take it out on teams after the all star break.

@mook said what if we take out the Spurs... that is what I was referring to as dream scenario. Not just getting to the 7 seed.
 
In the comcast videos I watched, Dame said over and over again that he believes he's an all star. He just wasn't whiny about it like last year. He cares. I expect him to continue to show the league he's an all star.

Elhassan: Damian Lillard. Not many of us had the Blazers challenging for a playoff berth after their offseason reimagining, and although they probably won't punch a ticket to the postseason, Lillard is a big reason why they are still in the conversation at this stage. Ironically, the departure of LaMarcus Aldridge set Portland's fate in motion, and I can't understand how he made the team after a decent but hardly noteworthy half season.

Broussard: The coaches' West reserves were identical to mine, so I'm fine with the squad. Sadly for a deserving Lillard, Kobe Bryant's being voted in as a starter meant that there was no room for Lillard on the list of reserves.

Sedano: Lillard, and it's not close. He's the Rodney Dangerfield (there's a modern reference for you) of the NBA. Lillard was snubbed last season and luckily got named as an injury replacement. The Blazers are in contention for the playoffs because of him. Most of us thought they'd be awful. Individually, he's having his highest scoring season and his efficiency is relatively similar with a worse supporting cast.

Gutierrez: Dame Lillard. Check that. The extra roster spot should clearly be called the "Dame Lillard Snub Spot." I mean, who's better at getting snubbed than this guy? Also we need a "Why Just One Living Legend?" spot. Clearly, Dirk Nowitzki has a case here. He dunked last year, guys. He dunked last year.

Doolittle: Just as the TNT guys were saying, it's tough to leave DeAndre Jordan off the West roster. I get why you want to have two Spurs, but Jordan has had more impact for the Los Angeles Clippersthan LaMarcus Aldridge has had for San Antonio.
 
I don't understand why they felt like they had to have 2 Spurs but only 1 Cavalier - they're the best team in the east. If you use the same logic Kevin Love should be there instead of Carmelo Anthony.

'Melo was voted in, so probably not the best comparison. John Wall, however, is on a team with a record similar to the Blazers', and unlike Portland, they've underachieved to get there.

I think that worked against him last season and he had a bum shooting hand for the last few months. He's a better player this season..just look at his assists and rebounds. He's also starting to put up big numbers with no turnovers last few games. I like the progression. I like him rested over the break.

The all-star game hasn't happened yet, so it "doesn't count" in their database. They're very conservative, and don't post anything until after it happens.

Yeah, even if we got swept in the second round it'd still be the most successful playoffs for Portland since 1999, at least in my book. A guy can dream....
