Lillard's and Aldridge's relationship. (He will come back Portland one day)

IMO the problem first go around was LA thought he was/is/gonna always be the bigger star and face of the franchise. Now that he knows Dame is a first team all nba guy I doubt he would be whining about not being the man, I actually think at this stage he’d accept the 3rd scorer role with open arms and most likely excel at it.
I don't care about his want to be a star. I hate the way he crumbles in the face of nearly every challenge. He's just mentally weak unless he feels like he's been disrespected.

Hopefully being a 3rd string would be just what the doctor ordered for him... But we'd better not give up much.

More like he doesn't see Little in Portland's present, because it appears he's talking about this season.

He's the fourth string SF. Don't really blame him for that take.

Yet he lists to players in Simons and Trent JR who have shown what?
Oh they beat the Kings, when Sac played their starters 18 minutes in that game. Portland was getting smashed.
But yep Simons did well against the guy who lit up Lillard a couple years ago in Dallas.

Trentjr has shown one thing.
He closer to Armon Johnson, than he is Matthews.

Maybe both Simons and TrentJR make a leap in year 2.
But it seems just as likely that Little will make a leap from his shitty college season. To his first year in the NBA.

This is how I see it from everything I’ve read too. When factoring in what we need from a 4, contract worth and length, and familiarity with the player I just see LA as a more realistic option compared to Griffin or Love. Neil isn’t hitching the Blazers to Loves contract and not giving up the assets for an often injured Blake that Detroit will surely want. Getting LA for a year and a half seems perfect as far as time line goes also, Zach could be a monster by then and slide right into that starters role after the 20-21 season when LA leaves or resigns as a bench piece for his age 36 season.

Just looking at the depth chart it seems that at least Simons will definitely be getting minutes whether he's ready or not.

The good thing is we’ll get more than half the season to see what kind of progress Collins has made. And if he’s starting at power forward and takes that next step, we won’t even need Aldridge. But if he’s still up and down I think a package of Bazemore/Whiteside expiring and Zach (along with a pick) could be in play.

I think if SA is trending in the wrong direction and out of the top 8 by the deadline a Baze/Trent/1st or Whiteside/1st could get the deal done. If they don’t make the playoffs next year I doubt SA wants to pay a 35 year old LA 25 mil the following year too. Plus I like the idea of Zach stepping in for LA after his year and a half.

Getting Aldridge for an expiring and a first would be amazing, Collins just seems like someone they’d want in return.

Lillard/CJ/Mario
CJ/Hood/Baze/Mario
Hood/Baze/Mario
Tolliver/Collins/Mario
Whiteside/Collins

I'm sure Simons/Trent will get an opportunity.
But I think there is a higher chance that Portland goes back to staggering Lillard/CJ's minutes.

Equal chance imo that Little/Simons/Trent show they deserve NBA minutes.

Fair enough, I'm of the opinion with the way they speak about Simons and the fact he's really the only other guy listed at PG that they plan to throw him out there at point pretty frequently. If it fails then you're probably right that they'll stagger Dame and CJ, and see if any of the new guys can take over ball-handling duties.

Oh come on. You had it going so well but why stop with Hezonja at pg, sg, sf and pf. Let's make him a back up c as well, lol.

Simons will be the backup PG. The Blazers have already as much as admitted it.

I would state it that as of right now he is the back up PG that could be subject to change depending on how it plays out. I don't see him on the floor for very many minutes without either Lillard or McCollum on the floor as well.

No to Tolliver starting....

Also, 3 man bench...? Is Tolliver, Hood, Bazemore, Hezonja, and Collins all getting 25 minutes per game or more?

Trent Jr. is nothing like Armon Johnson. I dont understand that comparison.

My point was that the guy from outsiders left Little out of his rotation.
While putting Simons and Trentjr in it.
Clearly it's a giant stretch that Little will force himself onto the court. But it's a known commodity that Simons and Trentjr will be key contributors this year.
And in Simons case he's a future HOF player.
Clearly...

In limited minutes/opportunity Trentjr would make the same mistakes Armon Johnson would.
Driving to the rim against three defenders.
Taking a tough contested jumper early in the clock.
Armon Johnson used to come down and already have it in his mind if he's going to shoot or pass. Trentjr certainly looked a lot like that in his limited minutes last year.

I'm allowed to disagree with the majority of the forum.
I certainly have for the past two years about Meyers Leonard.
That asset helped get Whiteside. So he certainly didn't have the negative trade value that a lot of the forum believed he to have.
Same with ET. Swap for someone who could actually shoot without attaching draft picks?

Obviously this forum is the place where every nba gm comes to. To figure out what a player is worth/able to do during the season.
Anyone who disagrees with that will certainly be told so.

“Nice to meet you” -expiring contract.

One quote I heard was that "Dame, CJ and Simons" will handle the PG spot. I read that as when Simons is on the court with CJ, then whoever has the worse defender will likely bring the ball up. Probably more CJ early in the year, but more Ant later as he gets comfortable.

That was Quick I believe, but I wouldn’t be surprised if he was off on his assessment. Hezonja will probably be given an opportunity to have the ball in his hands and maybe Bazemore as well. It’ll be important to not throw too much on Simons’ plate out of the gate. As the year progresses maybe they give him more responsibility.

I totally agree. I really want to see Hezonja given a shot as he looks much more comfortable in that role than CJ or Ant. I know his Asst:TO hasn't been good, but the guy has some skills that could really make a difference if he can put it together in Portland. And Ant is going to need time to adjust.

Tunnel-vision. Gotcha.

Meyers, Whiteside, Bazemore and Turner all had negative value. There were external factors that played a part in both of those trades too.

As for the rest of this post, I have no idea what you're on about...

I hate it when people talk and don't read the last couple posts.
You said you think theres a higher chance Dame and CJ are staggered than Simons getting an opportunity in that very post..?
