When I think of the cheap Pumas and Converse I had as a kid.... (sigh.) I'd probably fit right in with the hipster crowd on Hawthorne with some of that stuff.

I'm dubbing some home movies from 1986, saw me rocking the blue chucks.

I got Jordans now b/c my parents wouldn't let me get them back in the day. Usually had the mid-level Nikes like Air Forces and some Reebok Blacktop/Above the Rims.

I imagine there's a pretty good market out there on the web from vintage clothing addicts for that kind of stuff. If you could find a way to encapsulate a fart smell from the 80's, you can sell it online now at $200 bucks a whiff.

Dude, Tommy Hilfiger shit from the 90s is pretty hot right now.

Some of my favorite stores for this:

http://andstillclothing.com/collections/vintage-shirts

I spend way too much money on this shit.

Yeah. The internet has made stuff extremely available and high priced. I used to collect vinyl and have had my jaw drop at some of the prices people are asking nowadays for vintage albums. Of course, they got the sh_t from their dead parents, and then they neglect to correctly identify the condition, and are too lazy to correctly package it. But at 100 bucks an album, who cares about that kind of stuff!!!

I was such a huge Cliffy fan I had Reebok pumps in 1991. Damn things were like 89 bucks at GI Joes and I had to pay for them myself, but they were awesome.

Yeah, my brother got the black Reebok Pumps so I had to settle with the Reebok Tennis versions. Not the best to play basketball in and I played Tennis in real tennis shoes.

Jesus, I was looking at a record setup with a speaker that was made to "look vintage" it was like 5 thousand bucks. so crazy.

Most of the shoes I copped were from Copeland's when they had their coupons.

Yes. El, if you shop online for ANYTHING, I recommend that you join a collectors group on the Internet or Facebook of that certain memorabilia. Fellow collectors can fill you in on scams, ripoffs, and stores in the general area to still clear from. I've saved myself a lot of personal grief by doing this.

How did I get NO love for the MAGS shoe post above^??????

Yeah, I follow www.BaconSports.com for my Random NBA Jersey game which is pretty good. They do podcasts and stuff.

Converse Allstars and Chuck Tayors!

The real hipsters still rock Avia or roos (I was really tempted to cop an Avia Drexler t-shirt off ebay)

If there was ever a group to spend your life trying to disassociate yourself from, it would be this one.

Wow, and I thought I was deprived when, as a child in the '60's, my parents would only buy my brothers and I the J.C. Penney knock off versions of the Chuck Taylor's, instead of the real thing. I battle self esteem issues to this day......

I feel your remembered pain. My mom worked at Sears so I got the Sears knock offs. I'm pretty sure that the size of my genitalia were adversely impacted. Greg Oden's mom never made him wear knock offs, right?

Nope, Oden's mom obviously bought him the best damn kicks available.........in multiple styles.......And blue Chucks?? When I got a summer job and could finally afford to buy my own Chucks, they only came in black and white. How did we survive???

Interesting side note.....the only (and I mean only) difference between the Penney's shoes and "genuine" Chucks was the label on the heel (low top) and side (high top). The shoes were made in the exact same factory!! My folks weren't as dumb as I thought they were......

Yeah, we were kind of mean to the kids with the keds. haha

When I buy shoes (and clothes) I typically care about two things: 1. How comfortable they are and 2. Not standing out in a bad or good way. I usually want my apparel to draw as little attention as possible.
