Lilliard reminds you of...

Not that I have seen enough, and yes, am admittedly jumping the gun, but to me, he looks like

Tim Hardaway, or
a smaller D Wade.

He just seems to have that swagger, shot, and body control.

Smaller Brandon Roy. He doesn't have the midrange game (who does?) but the seeming unhurriedness and the ability to finish really tricky layups reminds me of Roy. He is prepared to push the pace a bit more, though.

Also (perhaps) Stephen Curry, anyone?

I guess I would pick Roy. He has a good change of pace, likes to finish left, and can finish well at the rim. Also has shown (albeit in Summer League) to be a potential clutch shooter.

I see some DRose, I see some Roy, I see some Billups.... even a little Isiah Thomas. There isn't one clear person that jumps out to me though.

Lestor Connor and Kevin Johnson. Connor because of his long arms and the way he moves around the court and Johnson because of his move to the basket. Certainly he is not quite as explosive as KJ but he comes close.

If he could actually combine both these guys skills he would be an all star. Easier said than done.

Arenas pre-injury, pre-crazy was a pretty damned good player. If Lillard can come even a little bit close to a prime Arenas, but make more of a commitment to defense and if he can keep himself focused on basketball that would be pretty amazing.

A lot of variables and work between here and there, but it's fun to speculate.

Arenas in his prime was maybe my favorite player to ever watch. Dude would stick ya from anywhere on the floor. So, so confident in his abilities.

I remember Lebron as a younger player getting matched up with Arenas defensively. He had 0 answers. Pull up 3 from four or five feet behind the line? No problem. Lillard has those same qualities.

KJ and Isiah Thomas are both decent comparisons in terms of style of play, although Lillard is a better shooter than both, but hasn't proven yet to be the distributor that those two were.

I'm not saying Lillard will even close to the career Isiah did, or even KJ, although KJ's career PER of 20.7 far exceeds Zeke's 18.1.

The mention of KJ brings back some memories! We had some epic battles with the Suns back then.

It's kind of funny to watch clips from back then. Isiah looks so underdeveloped compaired to all these guys they've got weight training now in the NBA.

I still remember when Best PG Ever made that Best Play Ever in Best Game Ever of Best Series Ever. He was amazing.
