These are the lines I like. Maybe you could switch Buch and Vesey, but this is what it should look like I believe:

  • Chris Kreider, Derek Stepan, Mats Zuccarello
  • Jimmy Vesey, Mika Zibanejad, Rick Nash
  • Michael Grabner, Kevin Hayes, JT Miller
  • Pavel Buchnevich, Oscar Lindberg, Jesper Fast

Fast on 4th line is where he belongs. Keep that 3rd line together. I like it.

I can also live with the D pairings:

  • Ryan McDonagh & Dan Girardi
  • Marc Staal & Nick Holden
  • Brady Skjei & Brendan Smith

The right 6 I think. Maybe move Holden down, but overall I am okay with these for now. Good balance I think.

Klein isn't going to be thrilled with sitting when he returns but his play left them no choice.

Why cant this thickheaded coach put Buch on the second line. Vesey should be on the fourth line. The thing with this kid Vesey is he needs to play with the best players to be effective. Thats the issue I can see with him being here. I know he is a rookie but it seems that he was a bit overhyped during offseason.

I agree with your conclusion that Vesey and Buch should be switched. Vesey's game translates to Lindberg's and Fast's 4th line game much better than Buch's does. Buch doesnt play the boards the way that Fast and Lindberg do. He should be with guys who can get him the puck in space, and with guys he can set up with his passing skills.

But your logic just doesnt flow. If needs to be with the best offensive players to be effective (which I disagree with), why would we put him on the fourth line with the worst offensive players, thus making him not effective? That doesnt make sense to me.

I agree like I mentioned above you could switch Buch and Vesey for sure. With that said this is the right 12. I like the 3rd line staying together with Grabner, Hayes, and Miller. I am good with these lines, even if Buch is a better fit on the 2nd line and Vesey on the 4th line. I have a feeling those two guys will battle for the final spot in the top 9 the remainder of the season.

And Vesey does have 15 goals overall. Not bad for a rookie. Not sure how many more goals you could have expected this season.

You are right that Vesey's game fits more with the fourth line. Thats the issue. This guy was supposed to be a top 6 guy and it does not seem it will happen judging by his play. The problem is he is gonna take a spot in a top 6 from a superior player like Buch because this coach thinks Vesey is a top 6 guy. I just don't see him being more than a good third liner.

He's a rookie. I think it's far too early to be able to tell. Coming straight from the NCAAs, where they play about a third of the games, I think he's done pretty well. Right now he would mesh better with the fourth line than Buch, but that's not a knock on his potential. And if he tops out at top 9, that works for me considering we got him for free. And I dont think anybody was overrating him, he was just the only story to talk about during the dog days of august.

1030 start times are awful. Was up all night with a crying baby so I'm exhausted and don't think I'm gonna be able to last for this one (I know some of you are happy about that lol). Might try to watch the first period and decide from there. Make myself a cup of coffee and see.

Smoke a bowl

Buch does not sniff a second on PP meanwhile Vesey dances like an idiot and loses pucks all over the place. This coach is just an idiot with his favoritism.

Must be the playoffs are coming soon, since the Rangers couldn't put the puck in the net even if their lifes depended on it.

Micheletti needs to GTFO after this season. This homer says Girardi has had a very good game. Are you serious, Joe?

Christ is their anything you don't complain about? I don't know why you bother watching with your constant misery about everything.

Girardi did have a good game. Raanta was excellent as usual.

I don't know where Step was going there. He's one of the least homers around.

I must've watched a different game than you two. Lets just leave it at that. Look up his Corsi stats. And Micheletti is a huge homer. Praises all vets even if they are having a bad game.

You watch a different game than everyone.

Oh my, no wonder why my Husband goes to bed when the Rangers are on. This is some funny Shit. :biglaugh:

That's a wrap folks. With the Rangers and Habs wins last night we are 99% locked in now. Rangers at Montreal round 1 is on.

Price against Hank.
The grit they have with Shaw, King, and Ott.
Our speed against that.
We all know how difficult it is to play up in that building with the fans AND the refs.
They also have some real solid talent with Pacioretty, Radulov, Galchenyuk and a few others.
Special teams have got to show up.
And they have Weber on D, which is a big advantage of course. We'll need to our depth to show up because when he is on ice for his 26 minutes per game, it will be tough for us.

Should be a real fun series. I am looking forward to it.

Staying healthy the last 7 regular season games is goal 1. And it could be a real blessing that Hank, Girardi, and Klein all had a nice long break here to refresh for the run. We're in the right bracket as we watch the Caps/Pens/BJ's play a round robin in rounds 1 & 2, so let's go get it done.

One other comment on the series. Right now you have to make Montreal a small favorite. They have home ice (in a building that is very tough to win in as a road team), they have Price, and they have Weber (plus Pacioretty who is real good).

So I'd make them a small favorite. Certainly no huge favorite, and the edge is minimal I believe, but a small edge them is fair. I would be surprised if it wasn't a 6 or 7 game series.

Great win, late start game works best on Saturday nights! Raanta was amazing, the Kings were crowding the front of the net but he seemed to see everything. Interesting dilemma for AV if Hank has a rough playoff game. The much maligned Stepan joins rarified Rangers air with his 5th straight 50+ point season, he'd be over 60 by now if his linemates could finish. Girardi made some bad turnovers that Raanta bailed him out on but he had a SOG and an assist, about all you can expect from Danny. Holden played a physical game last night, even though the Kings are done they came at the Rangers hard so there was a playoff feel. This team has 4 lines that can create good scoring chances, the finishing needs to be simplified. Playing on the road doesn't bother them and they have 2 good goalies. Bring on the Habs for their beating!

This year's team is very predictable. The Rangers will pull at least two wins on the road out of their ass against Montreal and lose at home as usual.
