Also probably a good way to up the bidding for the draft picks. If you announce you want to part with them, I don't think it helps the market for the picks. I won't be disappointed if they keep them, but I wouldn't be surprised if this was a little bit of smoke and mirrors.

Yeah, he couldn't be more clear in wanting to rebuild the team, but not nuking it by trading LMA.

I like that he sees Nic and LMA as building blocks, and I'm going to guess that the Blazers will match any reasonable offer. If he gets a max deal from somebody, well, let him walk.
 
Kaleb's body of work speaks for itself? Is there some head coaching experience that Canales has that I'm unaware of?

Was he specific about coaching body of work? Otherwhise I think it is the end of this season and summer league in 2010.

There's one other way to look at this.... he could be talking up Kaleb so he can get another job in the NBA after he's let go. Everyone likes Kaleb, that's not the problem, but he's not the most qualified man for the job. Neil could be doing him a solid by talking him up on his way out the door. Make it seem like we really want to keep him, but maybe we hire someone else because they're a little better.
 
His praise for Kaleb screams of him trying to keep Kalebs confidence high, meaning probably he won't be giving the job to him.
