Live coverage of the Neil Olshey press conference

I heard a lot of canned answers. But I will judge him on his transactions, not his words.

There is a magnitude (sorry Mag's) of difference between a canned answer and speaking within a specific vernacular. Olshey is too quick with answers, extremely wide in his response to questions and appears very sincere in his "vision". I'm am starting to believe Chuck Norris does Neil's laundry disguised as a Chinese immigrant and will strike out at this renegade operative that is planning to topple the throne of Stern... or could it be that Paul Allen has had his brain implanted into a young and upcoming NBA executives body! Stay tuned...BWaaaaaahahahahaha

I found O'Shea (Olshey?) to be a bit glib, but I liked it. He was the anti-Yes Man in his presser today. Of course, since he was an aspiring actor, perhaps this is all part of some grand scheme?

I liked everything I heard.

He sounds like he has a definite direction for the team, and a plan to get there. It will be interesting to see if he pulls the right strings to make that plan successful.

Tiered draft slots is always the best way to go
Finding long term guys instead of quick fixes is great as well

My favorite quote from him is this

On how he envisions style of play: "We are going to defend, That's important to me. We are going to take care of the basketball. I like to play with creativity, flow."

I think we are going to put our head down and move forward, and when we pull our head out in the middle of July after Summer League, we are going to be in a great position."

Some would say the firing of Nate and hiring of Neil was already pulling their heads out

Love this line by Canzano

Olshey's 34 minutes on the microphone, ironically, breaks Pritchard's record 30-minute news conference. It also matches the combined 34 minutes that Rich Cho spoke for during his entire tenure as GM.

neil olshey is half sharkalligator, half man

Dunno, from that graphic, looks a bit female, I mean, that's some rack.

I don't think RoyToy is a troll, but RoyToy, it would be bad manners, bad business, and bad priorities for Osh, in his first press conference, to bash his former employer. Whatever happened between them, let us hope it's LA's loss and Portland's gain, OK?

Go Blazers.

Agree. He couldnt have done a better job at this press conference. He nailed it!

I agree, but this is apparently what dumber fans want--a GM who speaks like a TV personality--instant reaction, thoughtless, stream of thought rambling to fill a time increment.

At the other polar opposite, Cho was a caricature of the inscrutable Oriental. Bob Whitsitt was the perfect compromise, but then he was the perfect human being too.

Words are irrelevant. Transactions will matter.

Indeed... I hope he has the ability push a deal like Whitsitt, keep the public "all is well in Rip City" face like Pritchard and understand the CBA like Cho/Penn. Don't want much in a GM do I?
