http://www.seattletimes.com/sports/...int-to-trouble-in-marinersrsquo-front-office/Blengino, who was working for the Milwaukee Brewers with Zduriencik at the time, said he authored virtually the entire job application package Zduriencik gave the Mariners in 2008, depicting a dual-threat candidate melding traditional scouting with advanced statistical analysis.
Blengino said he prepared the package because he was versed in the hot trend of using advanced stats for team decisions.
“Jack portrayed himself as a scouting/stats hybrid because that’s what he needed to get the job,” Blengino said. “But Jack never has understood one iota about statistical analysis. To this day, he evaluates hitters by homers, RBI and batting average and pitchers by wins and ERA. Statistical analysis was foreign to him. But he knew he needed it to get in the door.”
With DiPoto, I think we're on our way to cleaning it up. I don't know how much you guys read out-of-market, but some of the things that came out about Jack Z made him out to be borderline insane.
...I had read a lot of really unhealthy things about "Z" before the Cano signing.
I already like what I'm hearing from DiPoto (getting back to speed and defense and not getting one-dimensional power righties that Jack hopes can overcome SafeCo). I like that he's looking at guys like Servais to come in, while keeping Edgar in a hitting coach role. I like that he said they're not stuck on "experience" in a manager. We'll see how it turns out, but it can't be worse than Jack Z and the cavalcade of managers (in various stages of being de-balled by JZ) that have cycled through here in the last 8 years.
...speaking of Edgar, if Ortiz is elected to the HOF before Edgar it would almost be criminal.
Hmmmmmmmmm. Are you sure? lolI know two years doesn't make a managerial career - but Ventura doesn't seem to have the Midas touch to put it midly.
That Whitesox team has talent - and I might as well give my opinion on Girardi:
I'm just not thrilled with him. I would rather replace Girardi than Cashman at this point.
In his last 5 years with the future HOFer as a Yankee as opposed to his 1st 2 years as a Mariner....
2009-2013 average = 28 HRs, 104 RBI, 313 BA, .369 OBP, .530 SLG%, .900 OPS, 76 XBH, & 331 TBs.
2014-2015 average = 17 HRs, 80 RBI, 301 BA, .358 OBP, .450 SLG%. .807 OPS, 54 XBH, & 274 TBs.

No surprise there but I did hear recently that both Ventura (White sox) & Aurmas (Detroit) are expected to be retained. Not that would be a surprise.
