LMA - Parting ways was mutually beneficial

I had a very strong feeling that he was gonna leave...... but I never thought he was this selfish. This fragile. The Blazers did a REALLY good job of hiding this from the media. Although, it was pretty clear from some of the things that Casey said before LA left.

That's why I don't hate on him, and try not to judge him. No offense to anybody who grew up without a father figure, but I can't help but think how it could of impacted his life, self confidence. Vs a guy like Dame who grew up with two solid parents.

That's ridiculous. Completely ridiculous. First of all, he and Lillard are nothing alike. Dame is an extrovert, and Aldridge is an introvert, so I don't buy that for a second. Aldridge was the old veteran. He's 30 years old. Dame was the young guy. It's not Dame's job to go out of his way to create a relationship with Aldridge. That's just silly. If you listen to what guys like Barkley say, when they came into the league it was guys like Moses Malone who took him under their wing and made him feel welcome. Not the other way around. LA is a child.

Second, it wasn't so much the Blazers who promoted Lillard. It was Adidas and it was Lilllard who promoted himself. He's a networker. He posts on twitter. He put himself out there. It wasn't the Blazers who put him on national ad campaigns. It was Lillard himself who got those endorsements and got himself out there. He's the more marketable of the two players. Period. LA was just a jealous douche who looked at his crappy local endorsements and looked at Dame with Adidas and NBA Live and thought..... what's so great about him?
So, so, This.

Reading between the lines summery...

LA: I like to have my ass kissed and my balls fondled, ya know. Lillard comes in here and refuses to do either, ya know. He's like, lets just play basketball and win games, but my ass and balls have needs, ya know. He won't even discuss it, ya know. My ass and balls, refuses to talk about them or touch them, ya know. Terrible communication, ya know. Should I have pushed my ass to his mouth? Should I have just dropped my balls in his hands? I guess I could have, ya know. But neither of us took the time to talk about my ass and balls and their needs, ya know. We texted, I sent him a couple of videos of people kissing my ass and fondling my balls but he never really replied to them, ya know. It was more about playing, winning, team stuff, ya know. But my ass and balls are the team, ya know.

That's why I decided to sign with San Antonio. In talking with Coach Pops he said he liked to play balls out, ya know. That said a lot to me, ya know. While I've never played with my balls out I'm sure Pops wouldn't have suggested it if he didn't want to make it easier for him to fondle them, ya know. And the ass stuff? Well he did take me to dinner twice and said lots of nice things to me, ya know. When people do that it means they really want to kiss my ass, ya know. Even Timmy was there, ya know! It just seemed like they were all really eager to kiss my ass, ya know.
Post of the year.

What more can be said? You guys pretty much covered it all already. All I can say is that I finally feel vindicated after all these years. This shit is McDonalds - I'm Lovin' It!

As others have made clear it's ridiculous to compare the two. If Aldridge had a tenth of the competitive drive Dame has he would be dunking on fools left and right. Ya know?

How can someone be so wrong about themselves?

The guy just really can't stand to feel disliked though. How many articles have we seen now where he tries to explain why he left? Just let it go and move on. He left. It's done. I feel like the organization has clearly moved on. The fans are still bitter to an extent, but I don't think anyone is pining over him. We just tend to hold a grudge here, as proven by our reaction towards freakin Hedo Turkoglu.

I totally had Gwen Stefani in my head

"This shit is McDonalds M-C-D-O-N-A-L-D-S."

It almost works.

The "OH MY GOD" part made me remember that he was a human, and not a droid.

Well, I don't think anyone really expected it to go in. It completely caught everyone by surprise. I remember I was furious about how things had gone at the other end of the floor and I was fuming about how we were going to have to go back to Houston. I thought the series was basically over. Suddenly the shot goes in and I'm jumping up and down and crying.

I did.

Only because I erronously fast forwarded too quick on my dvr when I watched it. :(

I like how he says he missed his kids. I guess I forgot when the state of Oregon banned kids moving here.

Maybe if he was in a committed relationship before popping out kids with different mothers it wouldn't be a problem? I remember when his second baby mamma was pregnant hearing stories from someone who I trust that LaMarcus was trying to also date a daughter of one of my buddies close friends that was in her early 20's. Its not Shawn Kemp bad but still I was shocked the local Portland sports media never made an issue out of it.

It's about parental role models. His father was absent, so he doesn't prioritize it.

Oh man.... that sucks. You accidentally robbed yourself of that first emotional reaction.

Yep. I told this story to Fonz on Sunday... It still hurts. lol. I just acted like I didn't see it. It still felt good.

That raises a whole 'nother issue... I mean, most parents with an absent parent of thier own usually say "I'm not going to be like my father (or mother)! I'm going to be there for my kids."

Yeah, I just turned this into a psychology/sociology class. Papers are due on Friday.

Yeah look at Wes; he's has amazing work ethic and ability to lead teammates. He talks about how much it sucked not having a father and how he'd never want to put a child through that. Especially since his father is famous and has his same name so everyone assume's they were close. I have a ton of respect for Wes and his mom Pam.

Great post and exactly what my reaction was. It's such a shallow stupid explanation on LaMarcus' part it shows why he has no ability to connect with people. Dame always said "its LaMarcus team" because he could tell it meant something to childish LaMarcus. Dame was really the veteran teaching how to lead a team even as a rookie but LaMarcus was too stubborn and stupid to learn the lessons.

What happened the year before Damian got here? Everyone knew LaMarcus was the best player but we had a bunch of unorganized players doing their own agenda of whatever they wanted, didn't even try, and got the coach fired. Since the day Lillard was drafted we've heard nothing but how much the players enjoy being around each other. Thats what a leader does and not because they want personal praise but they want a healthy, productive, enjoyable, hard working environment that reflects well on everyone.

I have to agree with you there. I came from a "Broken" home. I have a half sister and two step brothers. I don't have any children and will plan mine in another year or so and I waited because I told myself, I am not going to be the divorced mom and dad I had to deal with. I waited until I found someone I want to raise children with me and know that we will always be together. All I have is a high school diploma and some CC classes. I'm an average joe with average intelligence, but to want to break that chain is just common sense to me and the fact that LMA didn't go that direction but instead just popped kids out and then bitches that he cant see them? Man up and be a dad. You have the money, you have the power. Just another copout excuse.

Dame set the tone for this season. He got the guys together. He got them all in the gym before training camp started. Now we have this young, hungry, hard working team. Obviously some of that is coaching, some of it is the collection of talent, but I think Dame set the tone. He sent the message to these guys before anyone had entered the practice facility that this season was going to be about teamwork, effort, and trusting each other.

Good for you, sir!
