LMA - Parting ways was mutually beneficial

I'm actually surprised that most of you are not over it and still salty. Come on, who the fuck cares now? Let him be...

I was very upset at the time, but we've got to move on. Its well documented the kind of person he was/is. He did great things with the Blazers and no one will ever take that away from him, and we should applaud him for those accolades. But lets just move the F on.

New stuff keeps coming out. He keeps talking about it. More information comes forward and people discuss it. It's not like Aldridge has moved on and we're still creating threads based on nothing.

I'm not all that upset LaTex left. Our future is brighter because of it.

I do believe he hasn't been honest with Portland fans, precisely because he didn't want to 'burn bridges'. I think he wants to be liked, even while his actions pretty much blew up a playoff team and screwed the fans (like me) who supported and defended him for nine seasons.

It's not that I think he shouldn't exercise his free will and go live and work where he wants when given the opportunity. I would. I just don't believe LaTex had any intention in staying in Portland, maybe at any time, but certainly not after the second playoff game, when he completely mailed it in and clearly didn't give a fuck. For giving up on the playoffs, the team, the city and the fans, and for being dishonest about all of it, I don't respect him.

Wookee seems to want us to love LaTex unconditionally, no matter how much he screwed us over, or else we are 'bad' fans. IMO that is not a normal reaction. Like a typical coddled athlete, LaTex is so self-centered he seems to think his adoring public won't hold him accountable for his actions. Many won't. I find that sad, like when some people defend their abuser. I'm not one of those people.

So for now, I rather enjoy most of the LaTex jokes and jibes. It's cathartic, and often funny. It helps face the dismal prospects of supporting a rebuilding team, again.

Screw LaTex. Our internet forum jokes are harmless. And our lack of respect for him is exactly what his actions warrant.

Nope. Never forget. He's a dickwad and everyone should remind him of it next time he's at the moda center. He thought he was bigger than the team. Fuck him.

Preach!

Actually he's 30.

HELL YEAH!! FUCKIN' RIGHT!!!

Some of you are funny. Move on. Get over it. Blah blah blah. LOL

Everyone takes a different amount of time to mourn or celebrate ( depending on your viewpoint). I think everyone has moved on and is genuinely excited about this coming eyar no matter how many wins we have, but when the asshat keeps opening his mouth, how do you expect people to just sit in silence. Of course were gonna jaw about it man. I would say some of you need to get over others "NOT" getting over it. :)

This is also coming from someone who was pretty indifferent. I wanted him to stay, but when he left.. cianaro... But Im still gonna have some fun at his expense when he keeps dropping foolish quotes to reporters...

The amount of shit that lamarcus spews from his mouth is mind boggling. I can't believe he isn't aware of his own behavior enough to know that he acts like a giant bitch.

Touché. Guess some people are just unforgiving a holes who never say things they regret or change their minds despite ever changing circumstances. :)

When you're surrounded by "yes men" and people who are afraid to step on your fragile ego, eventually you lose touch with reality. Look at guys like Mel Gibson and Tom Cruise.

I don't have anything against LA personally. I think he's a pretty good dude and a really good basketball player. My problem with him is with the latter statement, however. I think he has the talent and body to be a GREAT basketball player. What he seems to lack is the drive to become that. Going to SA just was an easy way out for him.

Well, I don't think anyone really expected it to go in. It completely caught everyone by surprise. I remember I was furious about how things had gone at the other end of the floor and I was fuming about how we were going to have to go back to Houston. I thought the series was basically over. Suddenly the shot goes in and I'm jumping up and down and crying.

During the timeout I was thinking about the Roy shot the whole time, and then it played out exactly like that in front of my eyes. I thought maybe I was a wizard for a second. Or at least a really powerful warlock.

That's why I don't hate on him, and try not to judge him. No offense to anybody who grew up without a father figure, but I can't help but think how it could of impacted his life, self confidence. Vs a guy like Dame who grew up with two solid parents.
It's no excuse. My sperm donor left when I was 2 months old. I made a choice at an early age (13 or 14) that I would NEVER be anything like him. When my ex wife was pregnant, I even dropped my last name so MY son would have absolutely no connection to him. Now, I'm sure I'm not the best Papa but my son regularly tells me I am. And that's all that matters.

You bring up a good point, re: last names. I know it's now OT, but I have a friend who has a 3 year old daughter. Her father (to call him a dad is an insult to dads), pretty much didn't do shit when it came to raising her. They are no longer married (in fact, she's getting married again), but she insists that her daughter keeps her fathers last name.

I'm not saying she should take on her new step dads last name (that's a choice she can make later in life), but I argued that she should be given her moms last name, since he didn't have much at all to do with her.

He didn't earn the right, imho (not that my opinion matters for shit here). But it opened up a wound, in that HER father didn't have as big of an impact on her life as she'd like, but her mom kept his last name after they divorced, and so did their kids. Despite the fact that he had little to do with them growing up and it wasn't until recently that they have a passable relationship.

So in that regard, I understand and respect his want to be close to his kids. But I still stand by my comment of having his kids here. It's not impossible, and not everyone gets to pick where they live. I can respect putting his kids first, but it would be easier to respect it if he even tried to have them live here.

I'll never root against Wes, Rolo and Patty. (I will against their teams when they play the Blazers but not them personally.)

For me Id add Channing Frye to that list. I always liked that guy for some reason. Ill also root for Steve Blake. I really do hope we bring him back as a coach. Kaman too. Kaman is an outdoors man and I think would love to settle in the NW.

Remember LMA had the same relationship "issues" with B Roy. They were distant and didn't communicate well enough. Being that Roy and Lillard are both true leaders, loved the community and were involved, I'm gonna guess LaMarcus is a distant, egotistical twat. He'll have the same "issues" in SA, it's him whose the problem.
