portland, houston and the suns falling apart while jazz, hornets and grizz are coming strong.

also cant forget okc ... who lost some tough ones

man that jazz game wed is huuuuuuge

Portland isn't really falling apart. They're 6-6 this month and pretty much missing their best player for a 1/3 of those games, and Roy should be coming back pretty soon.

Houston otoh is 4-7 and Phoenix is 5-8. After a surprising start Houston is slowing down and the Suns are being exposed again + they might trade Amare.

I think the Blazers will be fine. I see them making a late season push.

I have to agree with Mixum. Blazers percentage to win the NW is diminishing fast. Denver is too strong for Portland to take over the NW. Without a trade by KP I believe the Blazers are going to be a 6th seed at this point.

Why are so many Blazer fans eager to make a deal to compete this year when it obviously wouldn't help if you ask me? Why blow up a piece of a young team that will help the team progress forward? It's not like this team is made to win now, especially with all the injuries. We aren't talking about the Spurs with aging stars. You can't expect to compete at a high level night in, night out with the mass injuries.

Well lack of trade last year didn't do us justice and we got killed in the first round of the playoffs against Houston. And then we still had Oden and Przy. Theres other players that needed to be traded. I bet we will be exited in the first round again in 2009-2010 season. You can quote me on that.

must win vs jazz IMO... and that seems to be impossible the way the jazz are playing

This team still needs another legit scorer and less of a log jam at the guard positions. That's why I'd like to see a trade. Both are issues now and will continue into next season if the Blazers continually refuse to balance the roster.

well said... so many other Blazer fans wonder the same things. With the young talent this team has in place, the only major moves I'm in favor of would have to make sense in the big picture. The club is already good, the only goal remaining is championships.

being more competitive this season <<< big picture

STOMP

GTFO! Impossible? At home against a crappy road team like Utah? I understand you're the resident naysayer, but good grief Charlie Brown.

Well if it's going to be a dog fight, shouldn't we sign Qyntel Woods for the rest of the season?:ghoti:

You picked Yao and Arenas?? lol

The Blazers better feed off their crowd with the lapse of Roy. Otherwise they will lose this game.

There is no reason to believe otherwise, so it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure it out. Nothing has changed. There is no difference right now between last years team, and this years. Nate will continue to play Blake, and when Outlaw comes back, he will probably insert him directly into the lineup, and the same results will be repeated. The only thing we can hope for is a favorable lineup in the first round where we get an old geezer team like San Antonio that just can't keep up with fresh legs.

Seeding means nothing. Chemistry means everything.

If you're the best team in the league, you'll win the title. (Assuming there's no "Donaghy" involved.)

If you get beat, you weren't worthy of the title.

We have averaged 3.5 healthy guards per game this season. How is that too many?

And no, Patty Mills does not count yet.

Legit scorers = Roy, Blake, Rudy, Martell, LaMarcus, Greg, Nic, Travis, Andre, Jerryd.

Not enough?

This.

If Roy struggled with having Greg and Dre in the lineup with him, how will he perform with yet another player that wants lots of touches? Hopefully, he would figure it out, but if he doesn't, that's a mess.

Go Blazers

Absolutely! I'd be in favor of taking a half-step back this year, even, if it helped us next year and/or farther down the road.

If this team makes the playoffs it will be a minor miracle, and I don't see how Blazers fans could be upset with the team or organization if we fail to make the playoffs this year.

I would be MORE upset if we make a trade to make a push for the rest of the year (at the expense of part of the future) when there's almost no deal out there that will drag us to contention this year.
