Looking Ahead Do You Think

I'm thinking warren is ticketed for the pen as soon as severino is ready and I'm hoping with a few more good starts in triple A severino comes up for good right after the alstar break. Glad to see CC showing some emotion the other day. He looked like the umpire stole a cheeseburger from him. That HP ump was horrible though

So age, knowledge and wisdom

Now this is just plain derogatory in itself..........No bias?

Tell me bern, are you exempt from growing old(er), or having life experiences, which are unique unto its/your own...... I didn't think so.....is there a crime with sharing experiences......

Old Codgers? I take exception to that derogatory remark.......

Are we to close our minds, because someone older than ourselves have seen, things this generation will never see again.......is this not how progress is made......:smiley-peace:
Open Mindedly........?

...Matts, off the top of your head, how many instances have there been in your life that you learned something of importance from someone younger than you?

...not many I'd bet...same with me...and same with most people if they are honest with themselves.

How would the Yankees justify sending Warren to the pen if his next two starts are equal to his last 4 starts?

...that called 3rd strike on Tex was a terrible call...and there were others.

Michael learned what camel toe is from you.:rotfl:

...a decision will certainly have to be made...but it's kinda nice having a surplus of young arms for a change.

Honestly like you said, "Not Many" not many at all..........

however, the one constant in my Life of learning, has been that of my Son, whom I tell, "you taught me more about life" (by being a father) than I ever knew.......

and on the other hand, I can think of only 1 Older Person, who I taught one minor thing to, tho' it seemed major to him. That is: the old chef I once worked for, (the one who had me make bread pudding daily, once asked me to Poach Him 2 eggs. I did so in 2 minutes in a Microwave, & that blew his mind; [I still owe ya' that recipe and won't forget].....

"When one disrespect the knowledge of their elders, then one has chosen to quit learning"..........!

Hell, I'm a lot younger then most of you & I'm teaching you old bastards shit all the time.

Your right rick. In that case it should be cc in the pen but we both know that is not happening. Severino has the kind of stuff that you don't ask if he's in the rotation you just put him in one of the slots

Here's my suggestion because honestly myself and others are getting sick of the same childish fights. No pointing fingers or trying to assess percentages of blame. This stuff is getting where it just ruins the threads and turns people off from participating. Make your point and leave it at that. No need to bring up past comments, what was said in other threads or any of that crap. No personal crap or ending posts with little digs directed at others. This keeps on happening in every single thread now and I've really had enough.
Amen!

Mel I have to disagree here, I just don't see the Yankees replacing a proven starter with an unproven rookie. BUT........nothing the Yankees do surprises me anymore.

Rick, I think this kid will be the nice surprise we've been waiting for with the stuff he has

Did I miss kubayah? I couldn't find my solar vigil candles.....

Not quite sure if this is a positive or negative assessment but one thing is for sure as we speak - Yanks are playing and doing well enough for a W-L record which is very close to or better than EVERY team in the majors except the ST Louis Cardinals.
And they're not in our division, nor are they in the A.L.

If we can't acknowledge, give cedit and pat the team on the back at times like this throughout a baseball season, when should we?
Only on the day they win a world series?

Just curious. Opinions welcomed.

How about getting excited when their magic number is 20? But 103 is not the right time.

Okay fair enough. I hear your preference but does this mean it isn't appropriate or the right time to recognize and give the team some credit for their current position?
We're not in April - the season is well under way.

Of course I give them credit for how they're playing of late BUT.......it's hard to be overly optimistic with this team when the last time they played this well was when they hit there high water mark of 9 games over 500 (21-12) only to lose 11 of there next 12. I'll feel a little better in August if they're still in 1st place & are 10-12 games above 500.

...if Warren continues to pitch well in a starting role why would the Yanx move him to the pen?...that makes absolutely no sense.

...^^^This !

Keep an eye on Toronto. That team is a run scoring machine. If they get some pitching they could be tough.

Statistically over a 162 game season, a .500 team can swing from +/- 6 to 12 games. Do you get up and leave the stadium assuming a win if they have a 2 run lead after 3 innings of play? Of course not.

As you've noted, some tough stretches of schedule ahead. Let's see what they can gut together.

Yet, this team continues to beat mosts expectations and is actually fun to watch. They bounced back nicely from that terrible streak. This is not the 2014 Yankees, which is a relief. Tanaka back and Nova soon and there is still a reason for optimism. Baseball in the summer, a game on every night and a team that's worth watching.

Until this recent streak this team has been a case of one step forward & two steps back so I'm hoping that this time they can stay afloat & continue doing what they're doing because you're right, for the first time in a while this team is fun to watch.

...losing streak, winning streak, losing streak, winning streak.

That's my point also Ron, though I am enjoying the teams current success theirs just been way to much inconsistency for this team to get excited about this early in the season.

And I know everyone is looking forward to the return of Nova but we've really got no idea how he's gonna pitch. So I'll reserve judgement on him & the team for another month or so.

Can I go on record as saying I'm already more positive of Nova's anticipated starts than I am of CC's?

They've been more good than bad but agree, needs to be more consistency - and hopefully consistent on the winning side. Looking forward to Ellsbury returning. He has a huge impact at the top of the lineup. There's a marked decrease in Gardner's production (avg and obp) since Ellsbury went down.

Gardner battered 291 when Ellsbury was hitting in the lineup. He's battered 253 since Ellsbury went down.
