We're not going to catch the Spurs as they're winning in LA right now. I'm okay with this. I don't think Stern will let us win, but I think we can make it a 7 game series.

I swear, Kobe hurts that team such much more than he helps now. We saw how well they played when he was injured, and he continues to shoot and miss. I'm sure all the players get frustrated by his play but wouldn't want to admit anything about it.

With the way the Lakersh ave been playing, I am down with that. We may not win, but with our improved road record and intense home crowd, I think we can make it a hell of a series, with the potential to upset them in the first round. If Kobe gladly takes it upon himself and jacks up 30 shots especially at the Rose Garden, the Lakers could be in for a long series.

Playing the Lakers is gay because you know there's no way the league will let them lose in the 1st round. Even Miller thinks so, so it's not just a fan saying it.

I still think we are catching the Thunder.

If Roy beasts up Artestes in the playoffs like he did last year, and we play smart, we can take that series to 7. People are putting LA up on a pedestal again this year, but they are not the same team they were last season. The parity in the west from 1-8 should not be disregarded. Any team can pull off wins.

Miller is a loser.

Are you really incapable of seeing what he was doing? I mean, really?

Do you really want your starting PG to, deep down, believe his team can't win? Upsets aren't won by teams who believe that can't get it done. Miller, of all people, should believe in us. He can dominate Fisher and Farmarr. You have to admit that his quote sounded like a guy who has grown jaded because he's never won in the first round.

No, his quote sounded like a guy who has seen some shady reffing in series involving the Lakers before. He sounds like a guy who knows the league and knows how to work the refs even from afar, and without getting himself fined in the process. He was firing a warning shot to the refs and the league that they know there has been some bullshit favoritism before and players are aware of how things work. This makes sure the refs know they're being watched, and it is a fucking brilliant strategy. You see coaches do this all the time during games and after games when they feel something didn't go their way, and sometimes even before games and series. I have no doubt Andre thinks he and the team can beat the Lakers, and making some things known to the refs ahead of time is a wise decision.

The only thing I have to admit is that I am saddened that you can't see what Andre is really doing, but yet not completely shocked which may make me even more sad.

San Antonio Spurs head coach Gregg Popovich, speaking before Sunday's game in Los Angeles, knows his team is the seventh seed in the West thanks to its two-game winning streak and wants no part of falling back into the eighth seed and a playoff matchup with the top-seeded Lakers.

"The ones that say, 'We don't care who we play,' they're full of baloney," Popovich said. "We're all trying to hide from the Lakers in the first round and that's the truth.

"Really, it's like, 'Who do you want to play in the first round?,'" Popovich continued before sarcastically answering his question. "Oh, the Lakers! We'll play the Lakers!"

Clearly Popovich is a loser too.

A lot of talk goin' around that the Lakers wanted to lose today, as they don't want San Antonio in the 1st round. That is just it, I think it is just talk. Our team is clearly having problems finding motivation right now...we've had this problem for a month or two, though. I don't think we can just flip the switch on like we think we can. I'll be surprised if we look good in the playoffs.

Even though the Spurs have 3 tough road games left (Dallas, Denver and Phoenix), it seems now that it's a forgone conclusion they'll win all of those games and given the chance they do lose one, we'll lose another game anyways.

Fuck.

And everyone knows that the Lakers will roll back into form once the playoffs start.

I'll tell you what. If Bynum isn't back for the playoffs the Lakers will be done before WCF. Maybe in the 1st round.

I'd rather be going into the playoffs as underdogs and with a record in the last 10-15 games that's "hot." Like 8-2 the Blazers are now.

Yeah when Gasol and Odom are their only big men and they have nobody off the bench they are much less intimidating. Kobe is a good player but if the defense can focus primarily on him he will force shots ending up with inefficient games even though he gets a lot of points.

Kobe played 41 minutes in a game they "wanted to lose"? Gasol 43 minutes?

Hmmmmmmmmm.

Neither the refs nor the league read Oregonlive.com. Your theory doesn't hold water.

Even though the scoreboard shows a dominant Laker victory, the Jazz pretty much controlled the game from halfway through the 1st quarter to halfway through the 4th. The Lakers are not playing good basketball. BUT I do buy into the theory that they've had nothing to play for. On the other hand, if they had won these recent games (OKC, Hornets, Hawks, Spurs), they'd be in it for HCA throughout the playoffs. And don't look now but they're losing ground on Orlando.
