Lopez and Kaman on the floor together?

I thought this was one of the most interesting statements from the press conference. Stotts mentioned he could play both of them together. They both have decent jumpers so there should be offensive spacing. I'm not sure if they are quick enough on defense to defend PF's but it would likely be primarily against other teams backups.

I really like how Memphis plays a unique old fashion beat them up down low game. They have the combo of ZBo and Marc Gasol. They are such a difficult matchup for opposing frontcourts and that led to them having the best NBA record after the allstar break. I wonder if we'll try to do something similar and give NBA defenses unqiue looks that they aren't used to. Our starting unit is one of the tallest ones and if we play twin towers of Lopez & Kaman against backups along with our great 3 point shooting we could be a very difficult team to defend. It could be a great counter strategy to so many teams playing smallball or with stretch 4's nowdays.

I don't want to see this much only because I don't think TRob is going to get as many mins as he should already and this would just kill more of that hope.

Can't do it against quick or 3 point shooting PFs, but it would be interesting for short stretches.

I'd be concerned just from the standpoint that, if there's significant (say, 8-10 mpg) when both are on the floor, there by definition is probably a chunk of time where neither is available. Maybe that's ok if we go smallball late.

I like the versatility of being able to do so, but I don't know that id count on it regularly.

Yeah you never know when we might need that line up for match up purposes, but I would rather have Joel or TRob on the floor with one of them instead. But I guess if LMA misses any games that duo might be needed for a short period of time during a game.

That doesn't necessarily follow. If Lopez plays, say, 33 minutes per game and Kaman plays 20, that would mean that at least one of them can be on the court at all times and the overlap of 5 minutes would be "together" on-court time.

The 5 minutes would come out of the power fowards' minutes. Aldridge is probably going to be getting about 36 MPG, so that would leave 7 minutes for Robinson. That's probably too low, but the Blazers will be able to play match-ups and "going big" with both Kaman and Lopez should be perfectly viable at times.
