My point was the same in all responses, Grant is not paid like an elite player as you originally stated. Elite players in the NBA are paid significantly more, close to double. Pretty simple comments and straightforward logic.
I never claimed Grant is paid like an elite player silly and have gone over and over and over clarifying this. That 32M per is less then 60+ is not up for debate and once again not what I implied originally & have tried repeatedly to get past this nonsensical strawman argument of yours since. If you're trying to make the case that you're not playing obtuse but instead are a dolt you're doing a hell of a job. One more time to settle matters & this is the exact quote from me that somehow made your head spin... "
his contract level is that of a player with pretty elite production". The word IS is important here, because it's present tense meaning I'm talking about today.... not the future, today. I'm comparing him to what guys are making today. And once again for the umpteenth time, by pretty elite production I'm meaning less then elite but up there... again, pretty obvious just looking at numbers that the 60th highest paid player in a league of 450 is up there in pay relative to his contemporaries. A team taking on this sort of salary from an advancing aged player will be expecting a real impact for their team... well above average production.
Comparing Grant future contract to a player like Tatum old rookie extension when Tatum has a pending massive supermax raise coming is a totally misleading comparison. That's why I added additional explanation to when you stated this ridiculous comparison. Even using NBA salaries for 2024-25 Grant isn't in the top50, again he's not paid like an elite player. So your logic fails no matter how you analyse it, whatever time period we're looking at, or present vs future.
Again, we only started debating what an elite talent is because of your original butchering of my statement. You've since contorted this misconception to ridiculous levels that have absolutely nothing to do with my statement or very simple point... that this decent starting forward on the wrong side of 30 with 3 more years on his contract after this one is paid far more then he's worth in today's NBA and trading him for anything
helpful to the PTB is a pipedream. There are other overpaid/underperforming players in the league that teams made mistakes on... thats what Grant's trade market is. With the tax aprons, Grant's advancing contract plus the expected diminishing returns of an aging player, he is most likely a Trailblazer for years to come. I've seen the trades you post in the Plausable Vet trade thread & lol!!!
A side note on production... my fantasy league goes about 90 players deep and of course managers keep players just based on today's production. Like last season, Grant is and has been available for anyone to add. Managers might add him after a hot game, but he's quickly available again. Based on Basketball Monsters ranking of player production this season, he's the 94th best player in the league. 30 teams with 5 starters each means he's producing at a level well below average while getting the most minutes/opportunities on the team... he's the featured guy
& top 50 in salary??? In my previous post I stated his salary puts him about 60th in today's contracts (fact) so you create another strawman to support your original misconception & somehow claim thats my logic fail? Sorry but thats you continuing to fail at basic reading comprehension
Pretty obvious reading our posts who is stating basic facts and logic.
keep digging, you'll get to China any minute now.
