Racists and other prejudice people typically have lower IQs? That's about as shocking as low IQs being related to those that drive trucks and carry boxes for a living.

I agreed with the article's statement that it seems overly ambitious and provocative to assign causal relationships b/w politics, intelligence and racism (I'd include "religion" in there as well). There's an overly broad brush to paint fine lines with.

I'd also surmise that assigning any broad societal label to a self-selecting group of people who post political discourse on the internet and are Portland Trail Blazer fans would be irresponsible. I don't think if Denny or Julius or Maxiep or Barfo were people of low intelligence they'd be posting what they post, regardless of their views, while the "your momma" crowd seemingly goes across party lines.

there are other studies indicating that conservatives are generally happier in life too.

The few old, intelligent republicans hardly offset the many uneducated impoverished Bible-holding (not bible-reading), mud-drag racing rednecks who constitute the backbone of the GOP these days.

I've been to West Virginia, in fact I've spent quite a bit of time there. I guess your characterization is true, after all they have elected Jay Rockefeller, Joe Manchin and the late Robert Byrd time and time and time again. As for the intellect of West Virgnians, are you telling me that Morgantown, Jefferson County, Huntington and Charleston are overwhelmingly populated by those people you characterize? If that is your contention, then perhaps if you wish to see true ignorance, you should in the mirror.

Because this thread is the first time that you've tryed to make fun of me for being a truck driver...

Not really sure what you're taking a stab at anyways, my job is part of whats great about America. I can make around 100K a year without a college degree and have some of the best medical/dental/pension/vacation benefits that is out there.

You should be making fun of school teachers instead. Make around 40K and owe money in student loans.

So, what do you do?
