16-year-old victim in Asiana Airlines plane crash died after being run over by fire truck: report

The teenage girl who survived the initial crash of Asiana Airlines in San Francisco only to be hit by an emergency vehicle on the ground was actually killed by the fire vehicle, officials said Friday.

Ye Meng Yuan, 16, a Chinese student, died July 6 of multiple blunt injuries consistent with being run over, said San Mateo County Coroner Robert Foucrault.

He didn’t specify what type of vehicle struck the teen, but fire officials said it was believed to have been a fire truck.

“It’s very difficult and devastating news for all of us, San Francisco Fire Chief Joanne Hayes-White said.
